Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

The only way that Hillary (the Obliterator) would win is if the Super-Delegates let her win instead of the person who had the most vote count - which is Obama right now.(

TimeNot,

Why do you think that the Democratic Party has Rule 9 "super-deligates" at all? It's the rule of law of the gentle "for the people" party that their convention, if brokered due to a lack of a majority of electors for any candidate, will be decided by the elected politicians of the party and not the rank-and-file delegates. That's because the party of the people doesn't trust The People to make decisions...thus the Democratic Party's elitist noblesse oblige theory of the Cradle-to-the-Grave government baby-sitter for the imbeciles...errr...electorate. (And if you think that I'm wrong in my assessment of the Democrats just answer the question for yourself...why super-delegates in a party that's supposed to be so caring, so loving, so pluralistic...so democratic?)

The nominee will be decided by the super-delegates. Neither Obama nor Hillary has the juice to convince half of the Democrats that they should represent the party, neither candidate has shown that they have the juice in the General Election to win a majority of electoral votes, neither of them will back down and both of them believe that the party owes them this nomination. It's beautiful!. The party of compromise, the party of consensus is going to implode in August because it is neither.

It could be that neither of them will get the nomination. The super-deligates might opt for a third candidate that could actually have a reasonable chance to win in November. I can hear it now from them...Al "The World Just Burst into Flames" Gore for President.

And people just keep on voting Democrat..."Thank you sir...may I have another?" "Like, shut up, bend over and take it like a man, dude."

Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

Very well put, Darby. This is the precise scenario before the Democratic Party. I have nothing to add to your assessment.

Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

Well, right now that is Hillary's viewpoint -- that the popular vote should win and not the Electoral College vote (in which Obama is ahead in right now - whether along the way, Florida and the other State - what Michigan votes where not counted - because those States disagreed with the Democratic whatever it is called -- Howard Dean "Yee-haw" runs or whatever it is that the Democratic Party does. The only thing I stated lately was that if they were going to stay in the Congressional Building a while back on cots - they should have been charged room and board for that night.)
But I guess Hillary stated something about Iran and Obliterating it if necessary. All I got to say is that same ol' people. Now you had Jihad Jane, and probably have Jihad Hillary!.

Actually, that's not Hillary's position either philosophically or in the realm of the real politik. She is behind in states won and total votes but she has a significant lead over Barry in actual electoral college votes. She's won all of the key districts and large key states. So today she's a firm supporter of the electoral college (which wasn't the case four years ago).

As to the disqualified states (Michigan & Florida) they knew full well what the consequences would be for running an early primary. Rule 11 sets out the dates and Rule 20 names the consequences. And all because they wanted to get in early and be national leaders in the nomination process. Again, beautiful! They ended up without any delegates and they had no influence on the outcome.

The Democrats are a funny lot. Their primary election rules spend pages on Affirmative Action making sure that the sexual mix among delegates is politically correct and if the sex of the elected delegates don't have enough women that Rule 9 (yes...super-delegates) delegates are chosen to balance the sexual distribution; that every race is proportionately represented and that there is proper representation from "the LGBT community and disabled persons". BTW: I didn't marginalize lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals with an acronym. The Democrats did. That's a direct quote from their Rule 7.

I think that at the top of the party there are several clinically insane folks running the show. They tend to make our OETWO's seem normal by comparison.

The high price of oil affected GM which lost 39 billion last year, in contrast number three automaker Ford lost only 2.72 billion in 2007. Market share for US made vehicles continues to decline as nearly $4/gal gas trims demand for gas-guzzling SUVs.

On the other side of the ledger Exxon, world's biggest oil company, had record profits last year of 40.61 billion; actually the highest-ever annual profit from an american company.

Actually what's on the way is the next Presidential election. People are going to say, "Oops. Sorry about the Save the Whales - Turn Food into Gasoline crap. How 'bouts we turn rice and corn into food? While we're at it let's purge ourselves of a few neo-Marxist Democrats while we're at it."

What a concept...common sense.

You see, while you've been regurgitating all of Daddy's input you've failed to ever mention the resurgence of the Communist Party in the Western hemisphere in general and in the US in particular. That's your driving force behind the food grain shortages and gas prices. Are you part of the problem or are you part of the solution? So far the former is a close match, dear.

Re: They always have a scapegoat. was: Ride of...

no new petro refineries since the 70s wtf?

Recall,

"WTF" indeed. Have you bought into "Be Green"? If you have you're part of the problem. If you haven't you're set to be part of the solution.

We haven't built a refinery or a major power plant since the 1970's because the Neo-Coms (Neo-Marxists) have been able to infiltrate and otherwise bully the Democrats into allowing our infrastructure to crumble while at the same time passing legislation that has quadrupled the price of energy through taxation, regulation and now artificial food shortages.

Are the police the state's most powerful police power? Not even close. Its the power to tax and regulate. Tax it into non-existence, regulate it to death. But while you do that make sure that you distribute cute bumper stickers. The Democrats have become expert at that. One liners on bumper stickers...Save the Planet...Save the Whales...Be Green. In other words, Soma for the masses so that they don't have to think about the consequences.

It isn't Big Oil or Big Energy that's under assault today. Capitalism is under assault. The Democratic Party is geared up to terminate capitalism. What's the fastest growing college student organization today? The new SDS (Students for a Democratic Society - from which sprang in 1969 the Weathermen, Revolutionary Communist Party, Progressive Labor Party, Bay Area Revolutionary Union and a few more vanguard revolutionary communist movements). Where is it headquartered? The University of Chicago in Hyde Park. Fancy that - Bill Ayers, his wife Bernadine, Barry Obama and his wife Michelle's home town.

Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

Seems like things are going downhill for Africa, Asia and even America, but I live in Estonia, Europe, and there's a lot of rice, corn, and all sorts of grains, and quite cheap too compared to the salaries. There's only 1.3 million people living in this country, and this country has a lot of oil shale and farms, so it has its own energy and food. The whole global crisis hasn't affected this country at all at his point and I doubt it will, maybe a little bit.

So it seems like this is a nice place to live. btw a person is very lucky to get a thousand dollars for a months' salary here, and yet the gasoline is 1.7 dollars per one LITRE,,not gallon.
One gallon is 3.785 litres.

3.78541178 (THAT MANY LITRES IN 1 GALLON) * 1.70 (PRICE OF 1 LITRE IN DOLLARS here )

THAT MEANS, that gasoline here, for one gallon is 6.4352 dollars.

Now you get payed like 4 times more, at least.
4000 dollars or so for ex.

that means we pay 4 * 6.4352 =

wanna know how much that is in dollars???

<font color="red"> 25.7408001 dollars

and youre wining about 4 dollars? that just seems REALLY strange to me. We do fine,we have everything, and the price of food and clothes is pretty much the same here as the US.
mind-boggling to me hdrkid and the rest.
why is 4 dollars that much for you`? with your salaries.

Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&amp;sid=a4Hnt8hvfw0g&amp;refer=home

May 1 (Bloomberg) -- Sales at Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. fell in April as record U.S. gasoline prices drove consumers to Toyota Motor Corp.'s fuel-efficient cars and away from big trucks and sport-utility vehicles.

Ford's 12 percent decline was led by the F-Series pickup, while falling demand for the Chevrolet Silverado led to a 16 percent reduction at GM. Japan's Toyota reported gains on increased demand for small cars such as the Yaris and Prius. Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. also rose.

etc....

seems like to me that Americans are more poor than we thought. The american system is so tight that it gridlocks a family around its finger. People working their butts off to provide support to their current families, especially those with children. Lucky are those who already have wealth.

To me, having a full blown family in this time, is sure scary.

Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

Hi Valeri:
Estonia is a wonderful country. The entire eurozone is moving toward green tech via solar energy and wind power. Electric vehicles will replace automobiles powered with gasoline. Expect salaries to increase as the euro replaced the dollar as world currency.

Hi Timeprof:
Yes, you are right, americans are poorer than believed. The Yaris is a lot more fuel efficient than a full sized Ford F150 Pickup Truck. The F150 is seen as big and bad, but the high price of gas means many sit parked in the driveway. A friend told me yesterday that he got a Chevy s10 pickup truck that gets 27mpg highway.

Hi Darby:
Dude, yesterday I paid $3.95/gal for gas. Then price is going up like a rocket. At this rate it could be $5/gal gas in 2009 instead of the $4/gal I predicted. Global demand continues to increase as India and China industrialize. Still, I did predict that being an electtion year the US Fed Gov would try to do something, so both Clinton and McCain are talking about a "gas tax holiday" for this summer. Also, Hillary is going after Exxon and telling it to lower prices for motorists. O'bama did little except make fun of the "gas tax holiday" and talk about change and hope. To a single parent with four kids and a minimum wage job all this talk about hope does not put food on the table or gas in the tank. Shortages of food &amp; fuel are real.

Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

Dude, yesterday I paid $3.95/gal for gas. Then price is going up like a rocket. At this rate it could be $5/gal gas in 2009 instead of the $4/gal I predicted.

Which means, along with all the other predictions you got wrong, that you really are not RVing the future... you are guessing like anyone else. Have you now come to the point where you will agree that my method of "predicting the future" (i.e. mathematical analysis and statistical trending) is better than yours?

And another thing that would be prudent to point out at this time: For all the people gloom-and-dooming about the economy, and insisting we are in a recession, it should be noted that the 1st quarter 2008 economic results show that the US economy continued to grow...albeit by a meager amount (0.6%), what this means is that we still have not even seen one quarter of negative GDP growth. And let's not forget that the "rule of thumb" for knowing when we are in a recession is TWO quarters of negative GDP growth.

http://www.usnews.com/articles/business/economy/2008/04/30/economic-growth-sluggish-in-first-quarter.html

Could we still hit a recession? Of course. But the numbers show things are not at the level of gloom-and-doominess that so many people claim. So now we will need to keep our eyes on how the market moves here in Q2 and then the results for this quarter. Let us not forget that the economy, like all natural systems, is cyclical. That means there are ups and downs. We have had most impressive growth since the years following 9/11/2001. It only makes sense that we need a "down cycle" before we can continue to expand into the next cycle... just like solar flare activity.

The key is: People who do their homework, do their market analysis, and are aware of what is going on can still make money even in a down market. All it takes is educating yourself. In fact, as any economist will tell you, a "contraction" is the best time to buy to maximize your profit in the next expansion. Also, now is the time to begin looking at real estate and building. Costs per square foot to build are down from their highs since so many builders are standing idle. This was why I decided now was the perfect time to begin to build the first phase of my Colorado retirement property. In essence, I am actually "making money while I spend it" to build. Because being able to build at around $50 per square foot now, as opposed to the almost $70/sq.ft. rate from last year means I will have more equity in the property once this build phase is complete and the real estate market begins to recover.

Now is a very good time to snap up a foreclosure if your purpose is to lock in the lowest fixed interest rate you can. But that does not mean the real estate market is at bottom yet. Only that your rate will likely be at the bottom.

Those investors who are looking to maximize home equity, and are not as concerned about the cost of money to purchase a home, will continue to sit on the sidelines for awhile until prices hit a bottom. My analysis of the trend is telling me the bottom may very well be sometime this coming winter. That may be the time I pick up another home here in Southern California. You heard it here first!

Dude, yesterday I paid $3.95/gal for gas. Then price is going up like a rocket. At this rate it could be $5/gal gas in 2009 instead of the $4/gal I predicted.

And that's the problem, isn't it Kid?

I have no problem with you or anyone else using economic metrics and trying to figure out the future price of gasoline. That's what your daddy does and that's what thousands of other investors do.

But you're supposed to be a time traveler. Time travelers don't make predictions - they look directly at the future and report what they see.

If you're looking at the future then it isn't a matter of "at this rate instead of $4 it could go to $5" (which you've changed from $3 to $4 already) its a matter of what you saw and reported. That is a market fix and it doesn't change. Being wrong by 25% ($5 vs. $4) isn't a near miss - its a zip code or two off the mark. Being wrong by 67% ($5 vs. $3) is wrong by a couple of time zones (pun intended).

If you want to play the "guess the price" just say so. As I said, no problem. But stop the time travel nonsense, please. It's almost painful to watch as you continue to fudge the numbers...dude.

And how about that Coke Blaque? I'm still waiting for the URL to the original prediction. After asking for it...what is it - a half dozen times now? More? ...I'm more convinced than ever that you fantasizingin a post on this site that you made that prediction. In other words, you lied. Prove me wrong, please. Just post the URL that I've been asking for for almost a year.

Re: Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner.

Now is a very good time to snap up a foreclosure if your purpose is to lock in the lowest fixed interest rate you can.

In The Kid's case that isn't possible, Ray. There are several reasons why not.

First, Daddy, in a blind panick, moved all of his money to "Swiss" wherever the frack that is. There's a country in Europe named Switzerland and the people and language there are named Swiss but there's no country of that name. Now just how daddy moved all of his money to another country without going to prison is another question. But no one would have known, assuming that daddy had a good plan, had The Kid not flapped his Internet lip about it all over the planet. This assumes, of course, that the story is the truth...which is highly subject to debate.

Second, The Kid is 22 years old (or so he says...a couple of years ago he said he was 15), lives at home with daddy, is single and unemployed. He lives off of daddy. The Kid has no money to invest (here or in "Swiss").

Titor was correct, that so much of TT theory is already stated as plausible. CERN coming online could very well be used to create and confirm the ability to TT.

But here is the rub. Titor never spoke of TT in the negative terms. TT in Titor's world never harmed a fly and only was used for good. Post war 'clean-up' if you will. So why would Titor be warning us against the technology that he spoke of as so much nirvana?

Uh, dude, you mean you asked or suggested that I get out of the country, don't you? You don't have the juice to tell me to do that - or anything else for that matter.

But...whatever. It seems that you don't have the juice to tell yourself to get out of the country. In your last permutation of the fantasy you and daddy were digging a hole in the ground outside of Seattle and were going to crawl in and pull the door shut behind you. Then you moved to Bloomington. Is Bloomington in Swiss?

Are you leaving soon? (One can only hope.) You're a big boy now...22 years old and all. You don't need daddy's permission to leave the country. Just go down, buy a ticket, show your passport (you may as well turn it in - there's no chance that there will be an opportunity to return cause you've never missed on one of your predictions) and just wave good-bye.

Do it. I dare you. Just show us some 'nads, close your eyes, pull the ticket lever, get on the plane say Adios America.

Now here's my prediction:

You won't. You just aren't made of the stuff to allow you to stand by your prediction because you're too frightened - petrified in fact. What you will do is to make an attempt at a glib return post.

Cluck-cluck.

(Do it - buy the ticket - get on the plane - leave - burn your passport - never look back.)

Cluck-cluck. Cluck-cluck.

Of course you're going to have to borrow the money for the ticket from daddy - having no job and all. Not to worry. He'll go for it.
