Now I got a bit confused about the "ash of winter". I think April 19 is more appropriate. But anyway, I guess Nature cannot be predicted accurately
There will be some differences on our Timeline, because Titor changed our future, but I don't know how prevalent those changes will be.
that the problems would begin around the Nov 2004 Elections
Real disruptions in world events begin with the destabilization of the West as a result of degrading US foreign policy and consistency. This becomes apparent around 2004 as civil unrest develops near the next presidential election.

This (degrading US foreign policy and consistency)becomes apparent around 2004 as civil unrest (in the middle east, the original question related to the middle east) develops near the next presidential election.
. I will not disclose any detailed information that would allow someone to
avoid death by probability. This means no earthquake or bombing information.
Titor is talking about a 10-minute warning that people will have when they are told that a nuclear strike has been launched against major US cities, probably by Russia (or it could be China).
There is a civil war in the United States that starts in 2005. That conflict flares up and down for 10 years. In 2015, Russia launches a nuclear strike against the major cities in the United States (which is the "other side" of the civil war from my perspective), China and Europe. The United States counter attacks. The US cities are destroyed along with the AFE (American Federal Empire)...thus we (in the country) won. The European Union and China were also destroyed. Russia is now our largest trading partner and the Capitol of the US was moved to Omaha Nebraska.
Titor said Russia was not against the people of the US...Russia was against our government.
And the 'Soldier's winter' the poem is talking about is the fallout from a Nuclear War, because it 'snows' debris that looks like snow, but it is not actually snow
Carl Sagan, and other authors introduced the idea of "Nuclear Winter" in a 1983 scientific journal article (Science, Dec. 1983, pg. 1283). In the theory of Nuclear Winter, after the explosions of a nuclear exchange have died down--the spread of smoke in the atmosphere from nuclear-started fires, could absorb sunlight, darken the sky and ultimately lower the temperature of the Earth from 1 to 5 degrees Centigrade within a few months.
Why would his ethics allow him to modify his parent's past history but not his grandparents? My guess is that Titor would not reveal information for his grandfather to avoid death. So Titor's grandfather made Titor promise to travel to the future and prepare his family for future events.
