I am from the year 2522

What about the development of AI?
How does anti-gravity work and how does a generator create it?
Is teleportation able to move people from a long distance? Does it use matter transporation? What calculates the immense data during teleporation? What powers this teleportation machine?

What is culture like now? I mean there are several races like the chinese, arabs, hindus etc. Is racism still rampant? What is the social level like? Are there still things like organized crime eg. mafia, triads? Do they still do drugs or is there a new type of crime trade?

Is there such a technology as Euthansia where people take it to remove all pain from sickness and old age? Are diseases such as CJD, cancer, AIDS etc cured? Are alternative healing or therapies proven by science? What is the concept of paranoraml over there? You have not answered me yet.

We have AI computers now and people make AI viruses to try and take down sites or computer uplinks or other stuff

I don't know how it generates gravity but I know it is one of the most complicated things to do.

Teleportation can move you anywhere you like on earth and to the moon but no further.

It does use matter transportation, thats why it is called a matter transporter.

The computers calculate the immense data during transportation.

I think nuclear fission powers teleportation.

Racism is extinct for earthlings but there is another kind of racism against aliens now but it is done by a significant minority.

The social level is the same as it is now but with a tiny bit of communism.

There are organised crime but that is mostly in space and it is mostly just pirates hijacking cargo ships.

There is still drugs.

If someone has a incurable disease and they wish to die then we allow them to.

CJD and cancer are cured. AIDS is cured but before it was it mutated and you could be exposed to it if someone sneezed. So I wouldn't think it would be good if you caught AIDS if someone sneezed near you.

We don't use alternative healing.

What do you mean by paranormal?

Does A.I have the ability to think for itself?

Generate gravity? Isn't it suppose to alter it?

Why not any further, it makes no sense?

And in my time, how many Ghz does your computers run at?

Haven't anyone find any infinite source of energy, have they not perfected potential solar energy or something like that? How do you dispose of the nuclear waste? I know fusion is different from fission but I remember there is still waste.

Humans haven't changed much eh?

Are there still law trials?

What do they hijack, it all sounds too star war-ish.

AIDS mutated? What is the worst disease in your time?

Why not use alternative healing? Is it proven in any way?

Paranormal as in spontaneous human combustion, psychic powers, ghosts, demon possession, witchcraft, alchemy etc.

AI does have the ability to think for itself and it is bad sometimes because believe it or not they have started getting emotions so we had to change some programming.

alter, generate, its all the same.

If your talking about the comp I have now I have no idea because I don't know how to check on antique machinery.

We have not yet found an infinite source of energy but fission comes close.

We pay other races to get rid of waste that we can't recycle.

I think humans have changed. We actually care about or environment, not like you guys.

There are still trials but we don't really need them because we have very sophisticated lie detector machines.

They hijack because they are greedy and want to become rich.

The worst disease I would have to say is epidermolosa but it is very rare but it makes your skin fall off.

I don't think alternative healing was proven.

Some people say they have ESP but it isn't many. The rest doesn't happen when I am from.

A.I getting emotions, doesn't that originate from the Animatrix series?

Altering and generating are completely different things. You can alter a shape, but you can not generate one.

What computer are you using now? Our model or your own?

Other races as in aliens? How do they benefit from this? Isn't it better to learn their disposal technology and do it the human way? It sounds pretty expensive to pay money to dispose rubbish.

Lie detectors as we know it are not reliable as we have not comprehended the human mind? How does you lie detector work?

Aren't they no different from those sea pirates?

Is the common cold cured? Are there any new deadly strains of viruses? What about any world-wide epidemics like our recent SARS attack?

Have your people controlled Nature yet? Or does it still conquer you? Do scientists harness energy from tornados and lightning? How have your people overcome natural disasters such as tornados, hurricanes and earthquakes?

It doesn't happpen? I mean it's been happening from our ancient times until noow, 2004. It can't possibly just die down. Somehow, this seems like a loop in your truth.

I have prepared you for seeing stuff.
"Stuff". Hmmmm.... is that a technical term that a trained historian uses to describe something? Or is it the same, mundane usage common to the less-educated of our time?

I know a few historians of this time, and they all tend to have come from a strong schooling in language...which makes sense, since history is most often told via language. I don't think any of the historians I know would ever even THINK of using the word "stuff" when there are plenty more descriptive words available.

Kind Regards,
RainmanTime

You have a point there RainmanTime. History teachers in my school usually have a colourful vocabulary and excellent grammar. It would be utterly unethical to speak in simple english of a historian profession, or has the use of english been simplified to nothing more but simple words?

We have not yet found an infinite source of energy but fission comes close.

I really don't know what to say. Even a layman from 500 years in the future would not make this mistake - twice.

Please, Chronohistorian, tell us all when Fission was discovered...

James

never seen animatrix.

I think I am using an AMD athlon.

Normally aliens don't share technology with less advanced beings.

We don't pay them money, we give them food or other raw materials.

You attach 2 lie detector pieces onto the person. 1 to monitor the heart and the other to monitor the brain and they send signals back to the main computer.

Well I don't think they are that different from sea pirates except that they dress like normal people.

The common cold is cured. There is a new disease that comes out which is carried by killer bees and transmitted by those infected. It is along time away yet though, it comes when the only kind of bee there is, is a killer bee.

We can predict earthquakes and hurricanes but we can't stop them.
You have the technology now to lessen the effect of earthquakes and hurricanes already. Don't you yet have earthquakeproof buildings?

paranormal stuff doesn't happen. You already know what ghosts are don't you? It is low level sound or weird magnetic fields. Surely you knew that?

As I have said before I never took english at school. I only took history and golden age religious education.

Anyway the most spoken language on earth is arabic.

Fission is discovered in 2095 but needs to be tested to try and perfect it and it starts being used in 2112

It looks like you followed JamesAnthony's lure down the "dark path":

Fission is discovered in 2095 but needs to be tested to try and perfect it and it starts being used in 2112
I am quite sure that Enrico Fermi (rest his soul) would be a bit upset that recognition of his discovery of fission was lost in history. You're a historian...you did research Enrico Fermi, right?

Kind Regards,
RainmanTime

yes I know about him. I think he was born in in Rome on 29th September, 1901.

He never invented a fission reactor though did he?

If you want to trap try and do better

BAH WAh Hah hah hah... cough cough I hate doing that evil laugh, but Rainman is right. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
And that's three times he's made the mistake. He should have at least checked google before answering the post - I didn't even TRY to mislead him. I TOLD him he was wrong and look what he went and did!! /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway, I think he's getting bored - killer bees? :D

James

You didn't go far enough in your google search. I can see you stopped at the first hit that gave his birth date.

He never invented a fission reactor though did he?
Keep going down your google list, and you can answer your own question. You might also want to include keywords such as "University of Chicago", "sustained nuclear reaction" and maybe even "Nobel Prize".

If you want to trap try and do better
No, it is YOU who should try and do better...at hoaxing, that is. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Chronohistorian, I don't think you realise that fission reactors are what we use today. It comes from splitting the atom. It is in no way infinite but it can last a long time. Fusion is more likely to become a power source of the future. It involves joining two hydrogen atoms to form one helium atom. It can already be achieved, but the amount of energy required to do so, outweighs the energy that could be gained. The only applicable use is currently 'Fusion Bombs'. This why 'Cold Fusion' is a holy grail for energy production.

James

This is sad that an aerospace engineer has to teach a historian about common history.

I never went to google. If he did do a reactor then why don't you have nuclear fission now?

I can't make it any clearer than this web page. Read the second paragraph...and then move on to school, sonnyboy! :D

For the love of...

What is Nuclear Fission?

The process whereby the nucleus of a particular heavy element splits into (generally) two nuclei of lighter elements, with the release of substantial amounts of energy. (Atomic Archive Glossary)

Fission was discovered in 1934 when Enrico Fermi of Italy irradiated uranium with neutrons and believed he had produced the first transuranic element. In 1938 Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann of Germany split the uranium atom by bombarding it with neutrons and showed that the elements barium and krypton were formed. Fermi, Hahn and Strassmann did, however, not realize that they had in fact induced a fission reaction. Only later research by others established the necessary knowledge about the nuclear fission process.

During the process of nuclear fission a particle such as a neutron strikes the nucleus of a uranium atom and causes it to split into two fragments. Each of the two fragments consists of a nucleus with roughly half the neutrons and protons of the original nucleus. This fission process releases a large amount of energy in the form of warmth and radiation. Gamma rays are emitted as well as two or more neutrons that are no longer bound by the fission fragments. These so-called "free" neutrons are now capable of splitting other uranium nuclei, which then release neutrons that split still more nuclei. A series of such nuclear fissions is called a "chain reaction," which is accompanied by an enormous release of nuclear energy. In a controlled process, chain reactions can be harnessed to produce electrical energy in a nuclear power plant. The devastating destruction that is caused by the explosion of atomic bombs results from an uncontrolled chain reaction.

There. That's a copy of the page. We are using it NOW!!

James

Cut and paste from the page you cannot seem to see:

Next questions for our esteemed historian: Ever hear of Three Mile Island? Or how about Chernobyl?
