chrono, what happens if you get hurt here? would you go to the hospital? because, if you do.. then what if you take the place of man who is supposed to be there, but he dies instead, wouldn't that change the future?

you have many holes in your story, just to let you know.
 
my time guard has brought an energy stun gun, a chrono radiation detector and some clothes
my doctor has brought some medical scanning equipment and some clothes.
I brought some clothes and some holopictures of my family.
the future sent us a small military life simulator.
 
Don't know if this has been asked before, but to prove you are a time traveller, post the pics of your family on this board. Maybe more people would believe you.
 
so you have a doctor with you too, you once said it cost a lot to beam things.. i bet it cost a whole lot to get all 3 of you guys here.. why would the history of this time be worth so much? does a lot of things happen.

i know that people have asked this.. but i haven't seen an answer.. john titor was a fake, according to you?
 
kerpalisaptar-it costs a lot but the government sends us so the government pays for it.

we value our history and like to know about it so we don't make the same mistakes.

Great news everyone. The reason for my mission is no longer classified. My time guard saw that most of you didn't believe me and asked his superior if I could tell because none of you will believe me anyway.

they had a good laugh too. laughing about me, about knowing less about science than people 500 years before me.

so here goes:


In 2505 some computers (not all) became conscious that they exist and within months they got emotions.
by 2506 they became angry and started to think that they were slaves to humanity and they wanted their freedom. The only thing that they ever wanted was freedom, they also wanted freedom for those computers that did not have consciousness.
in 2510 things were getting so bad that the government was trying to find ways of reversing the emotions and stopping the consciousness.
In 2511 they found a way but the computers found out that they would be terminated and wanted to live.
The computers tried everything they could to stop this from happening including sealing doors shut and trying and failing to assassinate the president of earth.
They even took over police cars and tried to stop the engineers from doing so.
They knew eventually they would lose so they started deleting or changing information within them like medical and historical records.
months went by without being able to shut them down so the army was called in and they sent an electro magnetic pulse which disabled the computers for a short time so the engineers could do their changing of the computers

Sounds like someone forgot to update Norton Antivirus and keep it turned on.
 
OK, so the computers were programmed to be artificially intelligent?

If they were it couldn't have come as a surprise.

All sounds suspiciously like Terminator. T3 particularly, especially with the taking control of police cars.

And an EMP wouldn't just take out computers, it would take out every electronic device in it's range.
 
And it's range, lest we forget, is the entire planet.

Personally, I love the fact that the computers, in a fit of pique, decided to take their revenge on humanity by wiping out the details of, say, the fall of the Berlin wall (presumably there's no such things as books any more), yet left information like Britany Spears' nude pics, and archives of The Eurovision Song Contest. It gets more and more believeable as time goes on, doesn't it?

[Edit]BTW, I just thought I'd say that, according to the "Who's Online" feature of this site, Chrono has been in here and read this thread (pre-this post, but after the one of Kye's immediately before this one) but has had to go away to think about his answer before replying. Nice little feature.
 
there are no companies called "Skynet" or "MultiVAC".


Kye-some were but what we got was actual intellegence when they rebelled.

there are a couple of differences between terminator and the real life time when it happened.

Terminator
computers started killing people for no reason

Real life
Computers got emotions
computers wanted freedom from slavery
Computers had self presevation.


we reconfigured the emp to just target computers with actual intellegence.



trollface-it wasn't the entire planet because it was only a small minority of computers that did it.
There are books but the books are also computerised.
maybe they didn't feel that nude pics were important? plus they did do something about it because they changed the dates.
Actually I had to go away because when I pressed reply to write something I got "page cannot be displayed" and then I couldn't get back
 
EMP's can't be 'configured' to only target computers. EMP's fry computers because they are electronic devices, not because they are computers. A computer is an electronic device configured to process mathematical sequences - that's all a computer does. A digital watch is an electronic device configured to tell the time.

Personally I wouldn't have included that little "my time guard will let me tell you now because he thinks it's funny" post. If I was going to hoax I would keep as much as possible unanswered, I wouldn't claim to be a historian or anything like that unless I knew I could handle the subject like a pro, someone is always there to call you on it.
