2009

Oh come off it ! If I went back 23 years in time to 1986.....I could wax lyrical to the natives about events both big and small. I could amaze them with hundreds, thousands, of intricate details of their future. I could tell them exactly what was going to happen next....because I would remember having seen it on the news at the time.

Let's be realistic for a second, but pretend Ralph 2 (Whatever happened to Norton 2?)isn't reading this:

Does an army send it's best people to a forward position in war? No they send the "cannon fodder" the kids who only know how to shoot a gun.

If you have an emerging technology, and at some point in time travel would be, do you send highly trained people on missions from which they might not return? Nope. You send the dumb kids--less of a loss if things go wrong. The machines will be too complex for even a skilled person to "fly", anyway.

CA Northridge might be a good place to look for "volunteers." Of course they have to be smart enough to push the button when the lighted sign says "Push the button, now." (the button need not actually be connected to anything
) And maybe it would help if they stayed drunk during the trip.
A warm body might be what you'd want, to see if such excursions were fatal to human life /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The punishments take the form of placed in cages and having a loud buzz after which you get shocked for about 1 minute. This happens once every couple of hours, except when you sleep. For breaking rules, the magnitude rarely determines the number of days this happens. There is nothing you can do, so nobody fights it and just accepts whatever you're told, since it is either acceptance, or futile efforts to resist, which is not healthy at all.

For everything, or just simple rule breaking? Is the length or intensity adgusted for different crimes or does a Person with a parking ticket get the same punishment as a murderer?

That's the thing. Minor violations are treated as severely as any violation (within limit of course, murder etc, is dealt with differently). But for example, not cleaning your room as per the code can be equated to in punishment to something such as stealing for example. That's what makes you obey everything. Otherwise, you'd take the heat and not do your job for some things, which eventually allows for disobedience of larger things, and leads to "serious disruptions in operating". It's kind of like when I read this book by eyewitnesses about D-Day, and the Americans going to Omaha beach, the guy driving the boat was a Brit and he didn't want to get too close to the beach, and one of the soldiers threatened him with a gun telling him that he was "endangring the entire operation." At least that's how they explain it to us. I personally think that's a bunch of hooey just to get us in line.

It seems strange that in just 23 the entire jail system is condensed into a cage with shocks for a few minutes.

You're taken to the place where they punish you and "live" there for a number of days, as I said unspecified, after which you're returned to your normal, if you can call it normal, place.

From living in our society for awhile would you consider it freer than yours?

MUCH better. Just this farm for me is better than anything there. You have no idea how not only fundamentally important but precious it is to have a peace of mind. Solitude. Not one person but you as far as the eye can see.

What, have you been living in an abondoned farm in the outskirts of LA county? How could you not heard of SWINE FLU!!!?!!
So anyways, how is Barack Obama remembered in your time? Is he "just that first black president guy" or is he remembered for being horrible or great?

Barack Obama is surprisingly not illustrated as THE example of a turning point, being the first black president. Perhaps, society had changed already and this wasn't as much of a surprise to the immediate generation as it would seem. Kennedy being a Catholic certainly made a big deal when he became a president. A black man ran for president alongside Lincoln in 1864. Politically-wise, I couldn't really tell you much though.

Why is it that you confine your self to this thread, since you are here as a bored individual interested in time travel, like many of the rest of us here, maybe you should involve your self in other threads and conversations? I don't remember a rule saying time traveler claiments had to post exclusively in the time travel claim section

I checked out the science thread here. Nothing happening. I've been to other places. I registered at physicsforums.com, but I'm more interested in Formulas than theories, and I'm not interested in the physics of the sun, etc. Where does someone find out about the F(x)=x part of time-travel??? I'll bet I have to learn a ton of math. I remember an old book on the proof of the second law of thermodynamics, which had about 200 pages with all sorts of formulas. And that's for a law that was discovered so long ago which is probably something so small in what you need to know to understand time-travel. I bet those scientists can prove the second law of thermodynamics in their sleep.

Hahaha, yeah I suppose you might be right. After all, you don't upgrade from bacteria as test subjects to cows in one day; you go through the rats, which would be us, first haha!

It does pose many questions. For example, they could be sending me just to divert the attention somehow (if so I hope that doesn't get me shot /ttiforum/images/graemlins/frown.gif ). I mean, I have been wondered why I'm sent to late 2009 if the incident happened in early 2008. They tell me it doesn't really matter as long as it's prior to military conflict, which has closed off the border to anyone, but still, why not put the person at the smoking gun? Perhaps there's some alterior motif there.

You know, this does have me thinking. I thought the people at the top were showing a shred of decency by letting someone like me time-travel, I mean time-traveling, how crazy is that. Now I'm thinking they sent me so that the more "valuable" people get to live..How awesome. Maybe when I get back I'll appreciate my safety more, or maybe I'll be even more afraid of how calculating they can be.

Maybe I should just fail the mission by not going to Pakistan at all and just throw around in LA haha. I can just claim I got jailed and all my equipment was taken. Who's gonna know? They'll send someone else, I won't get to die, and I'll have a blast. I think that's outsmarting the bastards, but in the end I know they're gonna catch me somehow and I'll get that rat room for a year. Do you know that it always smells like must in there? No fresh air, no fresh food, enough to make you go insane without the actual punishment.

It sounds like you have some serious problems in your own timeline Ralph. What kind of people treat others in this manner? Shock them if they don't obey? Sounds like you have no freedom at all.
It must be a wonderful thing for you to be free at this moment. You need to do something to fix your own society. I mean seriously ..what are you saving people for? It seems like it would be better for them to die in a war than for them to live and be treated in this manner in your society.

Remembering that old phrase "give me liberty or give me death."

Are you chipped at all? meaning do you have an implant for them to find you?

How many times have you been shocked like this Ralph? What age do they start shocking people?
Do they kill people as well? Is there any love or care for others in your society at all?

Who are these people in charge over you?

What are the benefits they are offering you to do this job? Can you trust them to deliver?
Is there any areas in your time that are free and not controlled by these people?

Are you tempted to ran away and be free? What do you think of people being transferred back to your time to fight these people and create a free society for you and the others? You probably don't even realize you are being conditioned like laboratory animals. Do you want future generations to live like this? How would you feel if you had children and they treated them this way sticking them in musty shock cages for a year?

****************ATTENTION TIME TRAVEL CLAIMANTS:*****************
If you interest me I may ask you questions.
This does not mean I necessarily believe what you are saying but only
that I am interested and curious about what you have to say.
I like to gather all the information first and save judgement till the end.
I am here to have fun, interesting and thought provoking conversation.
If you have a sense of humor, are highly intelligent and creative I may end up liking you!
However, This does not mean I will have interdimensional babies with you. LOL /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

About when did this new system of punishment take effect? Are there still jails like there are today? If the murderers are treated different, how are they treated different?

You're taken to the place where they punish you and "live" there for a number of days, as I said unspecified, after which you're returned to your normal, if you can call it normal, place.
Your "normal place"? You say that like it is a box that you sleep in and then you wake up and go to your "work place" and the go to "lunch place", go back to "work place" then go back to "normal place" Has the future really become that monotonous?

Barack Obama is surprisingly not illustrated as THE example of a turning point, being the first black president. Why don't you just send back a note with the information, If they truly sent you back as an expendable, then why should they care if you go back or not if they get there information?

Sure, I can tell you about WW2 and The Wright brothers... But I can't tell you what Legislation was past by Regan in Oct in 1984.

And you would not have any possible way to read-up on this before you went on a time traveling jaunt to the past? Is that what you are saying?

I was Taught about the 40's but was never taught about the 90's and I'm gonna assume you weren't taught about the 70 when you were in school.

What with this taught? I LIVED through the 70s. No one needed to teach me about it. I stayed informed about the world around me... and yes even at 10 I could read, and did read, newspapers and watch TV. I was not ignorant about what was going on in the world around me. Were you?

when you were 8 did you care about the war in vietnam?

Of course I did! I was very aware well before the age of 8 (that would have been 1972 for me) about the war and people dying in SE asia...from both sides. In fact, my sister was a sophomore at Kent State University on May 4th, 1970. Does that date, or school name, suggest anything to you? Now maybe I am some sort of "abnormal freak" because I was aware of what was going on in the "adult world" back in the early 70s when I was 6-8 years old. But I also eagerly watched and learned about Project Apollo. And I can remember watching the Apollo 11 moon landing in July of 1969 while sitting next to my big brother in our family room. Are you saying most people are drooling boobs and unaware of the world at these ages?

When Ralph is 8 is he gonna care about barack obama?

Are you saying most 8 year olds today don't know about him and what he is doing as President?

Say you were sent on a mission to October 1920... What could you tell them? The ecomomy will collapse in 9 years? Hoover will be the president? Maybe a more few broad events. Could you tell them what stocks bring the crash? Could you tell them which states voted for hoover? Which banks will stay open the longest after the crash? I know I couldn't.

Again... please address this and do not ignore it: Are you saying that if you knew you were going on a time traveling holiday to October 1920, that you would not read-up on that history so you could tell them various kinds of details? I can't believe that this is what you are arguing, but you seem to ignore that a reasonable person would at least learn a little about when they are going to visit.

So I'm just sayin a lack of knowledge about the past doesn't immediately mean your not from the future.

Does double negative mean anything to you when you read this quote of yours? Do you realize that this statement of yours is pretty much a statement of anti-scientific method? (i.e. it is unfalsifiable)?

RMT

And you would not have any possible way to read-up on this before you went on a time traveling jaunt to the past? Is that what you are saying?

Sure, I could read up on it, but if I had a mission in Chile I wouldn't feel the need to.

What with this taught? I LIVED through the 70s. No one needed to teach me about it. I stayed informed about the world around me... and yes even at 10 I could read, and did read, newspapers and watch TV. I was not ignorant about what was going on in the world around me. Were you?

Truthfully, I didn't even start to care about World Events until I was around 12. However I did care about my WW2 project and therefore I can remember tons of things about then because it was Taught to me.

Of course I did! I was very aware well before the age of 8 (that would have been 1972 for me) about the war and people dying in SE asia...from both sides. In fact, my sister was a sophomore at Kent State University on May 4th, 1970. Does that date, or school name, suggest anything to you? Maybe Super Kid RMT knew the death tolls of the austrailians troops that died in veitnam in Feburary 1971, but little me was more interested in Pokemon Red than the Clinton Administration. Maybe history was more exciting to you when you were a kid than it was to me. I'm not saying children are ignorant, just that its possible that bulgarian migrant born in 2010 might not know so much about American history in 2009. And sorry about what happened to your sister.

Are you saying most 8 year olds today don't know about him and what he is doing as President?
No, but I'm saying when I was 8 I didn't even know about Bulgaria, let alone their Ruler.

Again... please address this and do not ignore it: Are you saying that if you knew you were going on a time traveling holiday to October 1920, that you would not read-up on that history so you could tell them various kinds of details? If I'm going on mission to China, Why would I waste my time learning Canadian history becuase I'm spending a week there in preperation?

Does double negative mean anything to you when you read this quote of yours? Do you realize that this statement of yours is pretty much a statement of anti-scientific method? (i.e. it is unfalsifiable)?

Even If you dont know about the past, then you can still be from the future. Does that satify your desire for proper grammer?

1)How is China doing in your year?
2) What about Canada?
3) Cure for cancer in your time? Who invent it?
4) Any name of famous person you can remember?
5) Is Artificial Intelligence invented? Who invented it?

Thanks.

Maybe I should just fail the mission by not going to Pakistan at all and just throw around in LA haha. I can just claim I got jailed and all my equipment was taken. Who's gonna know?

Er....major faux pas there....as the people who sent you clearly WILL know, as you just told them !

You see, that is precisely the sort of response from someone who is really from 2009 and no other time....and who has clearly forgotten in his little hoax that all this forum will either still exist in 2032 or be archived somewhere.

Hmmm....I'd keep an eye out for some robot with an Austrian accent going around saying ' Hasta la vista, baby'...if I were you.

It's definitely nice to be by yourself, but this relative limitation of freedom seems to me the necessary step for absolute freedom to exist, that is ending conflicts.

Are you chipped at all? meaning do you have an implant for them to find you?

No, but who knows hehe /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

How many times have you been shocked like this Ralph? What age do they start shocking people?
Do they kill people as well? Is there any love or care for others in your society at all?

Personally, about 5, though the last one I'm more disconcerted as to how I was CAUght, not as much as why. It's not just electricity, there's all sorts of stuff, and it's not torture, it's more like a sharp nuissance, which grows on you and makes you or brakes you. Usually, some time after either college or high school you enter the Workforce where you're assigned a job and live in your designated area. I don't know if they do this to everyone, or just to people with jobs like mine.

Who are these people in charge over you?

The government.

What are the benefits they are offering you to do this job?

In the sense of, For what benefits I joined this, there was not much of a choice. The alternatives are always designed to dissuade you (Maintenance duty, etc., cleaning up stuff), though I do wonder who gets those jobs. The funniest thing is, someone I met in the waiting room (technically it was a bench in front of the room) wanted the same as me: cool experiments like time travel, and when he went in to be inspected, he came out with a disappointed look and said they assigned him to helping with robotics (fixing, etc.), so when I went in, and they asked me what I was interested in, which is more of a side-note question, I told them I liked helping/fixing electrical things, computers, and/or robotics, though I mentioned I didn't have much knowledge there in case they wanted to ship me there, so they ended up sending me to the cool stuff haha.

Other than that, the benefits are being able to take life, liberty, and property for granted, such as the fact that water, food, electricity, and etc. will always be available.

Can you trust them to deliver?

They've never given us any nasty surprises.

Is there any areas in your time that are free and not controlled by these people?

A lot of the time is. There are curfiews at 10 PM though.

Are you tempted to ran away and be free? What do you think of people being transferred back to your time to fight these people and create a free society for you and the others?

They'll probably take us back in jail or worse, so..no /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You probably don't even realize you are being conditioned like laboratory animals. Do you want future generations to live like this? How would you feel if you had children and they treated them this way sticking them in musty shock cages for a year?

I don't know, but complete freedom in a society is an absurd notion. There is no freedom so long as there are different people with differing ideas. Even in anarchy there will eventually arise local laws and prohibitions. Laws always tend to be more fair than unfair in the long run.

About when did this new system of punishment take effect? Are there still jails like there are today? If the murderers are treated different, how are they treated different?

Murderers are mostly executed. As for serious crimes, they're fairly non-lenient and usually make them do the crappy jobs like cleaning, building etc.

I think the others who are not part of the experiments live in different situations. For us we have stations where we sleep close to the experiment.

What would you call "the turning point" for your generation If you had to?

Probably the war itself, which made most of the changes I don't see now, such as the assigned living places, and assigned jobs. From, I think, about 2015-20, the need for fighting India created a highly-organized highly-structured infrastructure with the purpose of having maximum efficiency economy and war-wise, since at the time China and Russia were on India's side, and defeat was seen as pretty much ending this free way of life. After sides were switched, this was no longer necessary, but it was felt the old system did an excellent job, plus the cost of dismantling/reorganization and a general lack of desire to do it sort of left this in place.

Maybe I should just fail the mission by not going to Pakistan at all and just throw around in LA haha. I can just claim I got jailed and all my equipment was taken. Who's gonna know? They'll send someone else, I won't get to die, and I'll have a blast. Why don't you just send back a note with the information, If they truly sent you back as an expendable, then why should they care if you go back or not if they get there information?

It's just my speculation that they may have sent me for some other motif. If I don't do what I'm supposed to be doing they'll probably catch on and come and bring me back in.

1)How is China doing in your year?

Political-wise, it is pretty much what it has been since the late 80's/90's, although its communism is more of a socialism/capitalism, mainly because of the rise of its industry.

2) What about Canada?

Not much I can tell you, still one of the main importers of oil to the US.

3) Cure for cancer in your time? Who invent it?

Curiously, you'd expect that, but in essense, the disease can't be cured the same way flu can, because, like the common cold, it has many different variations, so most likely until a person whose immune system can successfully combat the variability of cancer is found, there won't be one for a while. Unfortunately, such a person is very unlikely to be found because one doesn't get multitudes of cancer in a single lifetime, and the of the few people who do, they won't be known because the cancer cell would have been eliminated before anyone ever knew. Successful treatment is very high, though I don't know how much higher than 2009.

4) Any name of famous person you can remember?

Aside from the president:

Soren Kritgaard - scientist behind the physical possibility of time-travel (c.2020).
Alfred Losse - confirmed the existence of Hawking's primordial black-holes thus solidifying the big bang theory
Ivan Trandafilov - Russian president
Teodor Valev - Bulgarian president
Kegham Abgaryan - serial killer (2013); killed his best friend while he was at his house, then his other friends later on.
There was the guy who invented the laser we use to scan, but I don't really remember his name.

Other than that..nobody really.

5) Is Artificial Intelligence invented? Who invented it?

Not in the range of human potential. But the robots are fairly advanced. Don't ask me for details on that though.

Maybe I should just fail the mission by not going to Pakistan at all and just throw around in LA haha. I can just claim I got jailed and all my equipment was taken. Who's gonna know?

I was simply entertaining the notion, and you're right, this might be another reason NOT to do it (or at least attempt to time travel from the future to a few weeks ago to try and fail at stopping myself from writing here), but I don't really think anyone has cared enough to archive this forum for the next 20 years.

Hmmm....I'd keep an eye out for some robot with an Austrian accent going around saying ' Hasta la vista, baby'...if I were you.

Personally, Terminator 1 was the best, 2 was ok to kill 2 hours, 3 was ridiculous, and the last one is in between 2 and 3, leaning somewhat more toward 3's ridiculousness. In the first one Arnold kills everyone in sight...the entire movie makes you filled with suspense so that the woman and the man DON'T meet the highly-aggressive killer robot, who pursues them through everywhere. Not to mention when he takes out his eye in front of the mirror, that just has to be one of the top 100 movie scenes of all movie history. #2 just isn't the same, but is also good. #3 just shows that the point isn't to have a good story but a bunch of stuff exploding: the woman just had to have a well-aimed shot at the guy and that's all that would have been needed to make sense (as opposed to the rest of it).

You gotta respect Arnold though, at least if you read the history behind his career.

So let me get this straight. In order to obtain information on an India/Pakistan border incident....they send a Bulgarian/USA national to LA ? Hmm.

And someone who has no training in espionage, information gathering, intelligence, etc......does not speak Pakistani or any Indian dialect.....does not seem to be AT the actual location where the incident occured....and who does not seem to have any more access to information than Joe Bloggs down the road has.

I'd give up while the going's bad...if I were you.

Finally, the reason I came to this year. The thing is, I've been sent to find information regarding an incident in Pakistan. In Pakistan, some time in late January or early February of 2008, apparently someone planted a bomb in the Pakistani village of Aba Khel.

There is not a single reference to any such incident that I can find. Not one.

The fact is, at the time they thought it was the Indian government, even though a detailed analysis showed that to be nearly impossible: the bomb was pakistani, the locals heard and saw pakistanis in pakistani clothing etc. Needless to say, the Indian government was not very forthcoming in defending itself against the accusations, which started a bit of a war something like world war 1. By that I mean, a conflict that has been going on for over 20 years (since December, 2011),

A detailed analysis of something a Google search can find no mention of.

And why the blazes would a war start in December 2011.....over an event that supposedly occured almost 4 YEARS earlier in February 2008 ??

Big diasters that is going to happen in a few years?

Anything happen during 2012?

How did USA fare in this economic crisis? How does it end? What become the American Dollar?

It's definitely nice to be by yourself, but this relative limitation of freedom seems to me the necessary step for absolute freedom to exist, that is ending conflicts.

What is left of the creative arts? You can't very well be assigned to be a painter or actor can you?

Personally, about 5, though the last one I'm more disconcerted as to how I was CAUght, not as much as why.

What did you do wrong?
After sides were switched, this was no longer necessary, but it was felt the old system did an excellent job, plus the cost of dismantling/reorganization and a general lack of desire to do it sort of left this in place.

Are you sure the people in power just didn't selfishly want you to stay under their control. If you are any example the people in your time still enjoy almost complete freedom?

Have you ever been to Arizona, What's it like in your time?

So let me get this straight. In order to obtain information on an India/Pakistan border incident....they send a Bulgarian/USA national to LA ? Hmm.

What does me being Bulgarian pose as an obstacle if I've lived in the US long enough, and LA was just the starting point. They won't send me in Pakistan where there's no supplies.

And someone who has no training in espionage, information gathering, intelligence, etc......does not speak Pakistani or any Indian dialect.....

What espionage do I need to know in order to arrive to a village in Aba Khel? How did you determine I have no training in information gathering. Intelligence gathering has no part in a physical investigation. Learning Urdu was supposed to be a requirement, but it was delaying things too long, and they know English as it is, at least the officials.

does not seem to be AT the actual location where the incident occured....

You don't drop your soldiers in the middle of the enemy's capital. They get there through a plan. They don't just drop me at the village.

and who does not seem to have any more access to information than Joe Bloggs down the road has.

How did you determine that?

Sorry you can't find it?

And why the blazes would a war start in December 2011.....over an event that supposedly occured almost 4 YEARS earlier in February 2008 ??

That wasn't the only incident, it was simply the major one they always pointed out. The last straw was some similar incident a few weeks prior to the start.

Major one ? So major that a Google search returns.....NOTHING ??

'Bali bomb' as the exact phrase returns 47,000 results. 'Aba Khel bomb' returns......zero.

I tried various permutations.....but could not find a SINGLE web page that referenced ANY bomb in Aba Khel.....let alone a major one.

Sorry you can't find it?

What part of ' I can find no reference' didn't you understand ? Perhaps you could explain why rather than question my question.
