Titor's Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

TimeLord,

I will NOT POST this URL anywhere in this site.. even in a PM. If I do, I promise you that once you click it, your computer is GONE. trust me on that. Unfortunately I am surprised its still on the lists under google. There are others on google too.

if you find it, you click on it, its your own peril.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

BTW, I clicked on this thread just waiting for someone to throw out the Lakota issue as a pre-cursor to Titor's civil war. I was not disapointed!!!

Most interesting is "The lakota issue/self energy communities" was in the timeline of titorian...

astalavista.net
astalavista.com

housecall.trendmicro.com

top 2 are very informative sites from way back in the day. and the trendmicro one is the reason i will never have antivirus installed on my pc. enjoy. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

yea im familiar with astalavista. I dont like trendmicro. I dont like norton either. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Seems like you never have anti-spyware on your computer either? do you? Without it, thats equally dangerous to viruses as well. Spyware is common and more frequent than of viruses.

Anyways, this is starting to throw this off topic. I was merely trying to demostrate a possibility of civilization collapse through computers. We all know that we are very dependent on computers for money, etc.. without computers, we wouldnt be able to survive in many ways, perhaps start a enmasse riot or something.

Aww well. Enuf said. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

"Seems like you never have anti-spyware on your computer either? do you? Without it, thats equally dangerous to viruses as well."

the correct term would be virii. :D

the reason i use no antivirus is because i dont have to worry. i only go to trusted websites. anyways, i agree were getting off topic.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

Pro7, if the sites contain browser exploits, then the content is harmless if unparsed (I would use my own program to download it). If, on the other hand, the site takes advantage of weaknesses in the TCP/IP stack of a particular OS, then use of a proxy should protect my computer. (If all else fails, there's always a firewall)

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

Timelord,

The site uploads "antivirus, antispyware and firewall disablers" without your permission. The antivirus will fight it and try to contain it, but in the end, it disables the antivirus by causing a overbuffer error in the antivirus program, which it shuts down. Similiar to a DDOS attack but only attacking the software to "overload the processes" inside of it. I remember the horror, so many virus alerts popping up, overloading my screen!

It is a lame exploit of the browser engine which makes it complex because who ever have heard of a spyware virii? (normally spyware and virii is separate)IE 7 still have that same flaw.

Its a complex piece of bad tech. Once on that site, it makes your computer sluggish like heck and your mouse becomes disabled as well. The mouse is the first thing to go. Without the mouse, you will struggle to gain control of your computer by using the keyboard. Very clever hackers would disable your mouse program first. Yup.. after that, my computer would be dead. Its like instanteous but witnessing the spectacle horror of trying to control the computer via keyboard which we mostly never use for linking or closing files. Shutting down the computer by using the power button will not work as well. By the time you disconnect your computer from your router or your modem, it will be too late.

So therefore, its dangerous however I am glad you wanted to know specifically, so please lets remain on topic. No more going off topic.... we can talk about this in another thread if you want. You open it, ill join in

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

Pro7, it sounds like browser exploits. I'm a programmer, and I would download the site text in plaintext, which would render it harmless. If you'd like, PM me after this, and continue the conversation.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

Make sure you folks monitor and log your outgoing traffic. It could be worth something someday. heh.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

Post the link in the Real Science section Pro7, let people give their opinion on what operating systems and browser configurations are open to the attack so we can find ways to block it.

Researchers from Google and a well-known security firm have documented serious vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash content which leave tens of thousands of websites susceptible to attacks that steal the personal details of visitors.

The security bugs reside in Flash applets, the ubiquitous building blocks for movies and graphics that animate sites across the web. Also known as SWF files, they are vulnerable to attacks in which malicious strings are injected into the legitimate code through a technique known as cross-site scripting, or XSS. Currently there are no patches for the vulnerabilities, which are found in sites operated by financial institutions, government agencies and other organizations.

The vulnerabilities are laid out in the book Hacking Exposed Web 2.0: Web 2.0 Security Secrets and Solutions. It is due to hit store shelves soon, but is already in the hands of many security professionals. The book's authors, who work for penetration testing firm iSEC Partners as well as for Google, say a web search reveals more than 500,000 vulnerable applets on major corporate, government and media sites.

500,000. omg.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

Let us count. The Iraqi war over Nukes that never existed has come to pass. Mad Cow is on the rise and currently their is much controversy about it because the symptoms mimic Altimerz in humans. The US has lost many civil rights since 2000. A woman is running for president and will in all likely hood win despite the popular support for Paul. The poem has been written by a soldier that never heard of Titor. Currently the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar. And now (as already mentioned) the Lakota. ......

From the mundane to the prolific things Titor spoke of continue to come to pass.

Out right fighting is scheduled for 2008 and right on time here come the Lakota inviting the surrounding farm states to succeed with them.

So to say that the "collapse" Titor spoke of is nowhere in sight is just wrong. It is in plain site. Of course that doesn't mean you have to open your eyes.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

titorite you have nothing to worry about (or look forward too as the case may be). Titor said the fighting would start a while ago and by 2008 it would be so bad that the world we were living in would be over. Not even close. In fact, the only "DING" he got was with Iraq and if it wasn't for that, he would be long since ignored. How old is the young Titor character now. Do you think he's played a Microsoft XBOX yet? Because he said he had never heard of Microsoft. That'd be like someone my age forgetting about "Nintendo" or Atari.

Anyways, I hope when the Olympics happen this year and the USD starts trading as high as it was in 06 you can admit the Titor story is a stupid hoax.

The poem has been written by a soldier that never heard of Titor. Currently the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar. And now (as already mentioned) the Lakota. ......

From the mundane to the prolific things Titor spoke of continue to come to pass.

The only problem here is:

1. We were at war with Iraq when TItor was posting. Under the Clinton Administration the US was bombing Iraq almost daily. So the offer that the "Iraqi war over Nukes that never existed" is a false premise. Moreover, Titor didn't say that there would be no nukes found in Iraq. He said, "Are you really surprised to find out that Iraq has nukes now or is that just BS to whip everyone up into accepting the next war?"

2. Titor didn't indicate that Mad Cow Disease would be a minor, though deadly, problem. This is the exchange with Jeffrey

Jeffrey: ((3. Name any near future shock event that makes history - political assasinations, inventions, marriages etc, same rules - it should happen soon with nobody having a clue it was about to happen (exept maybe time-travellers).)

Titor: You mean other than the mad cow pandemic

That's "pandemic" - not epidemic. And the context was the "near future" - not twenty years from that time (which would be rather silly because twenty years after Titor was posting Mad Cow, even a pandemic, would pale compared to his nuclear nightmare scenario that kills 3 billion people).

Pandemic...

That's a disease that is widespread over the entire planet, like the flu of 1919 that killed 25% of all mankind. So far we don't even have an "outbreak" of Mad Cow in an isolated population let alone a pandemic.

3. A woman running for President. You mean Hillary. Uhhh...that's a surprise? Of course Hillary is running for President. That's always been her stated goal.

4. It's not surprising that one of the poems was written by "a soldier who never heard of Titor". The two titles share some common words. The underlying poems have zero commonalities. They don't even share a common theme.

5. The Canadian dollar has been worth more than the US dollar at other times too.

6. The Lakota means what relative to the Titor Saga? Titor never said a single word about the Sioux or Russell Means. And Russell Means has been cranking the same old Model T Ford since 1968.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

i dont have any intentions of offending anybody here.. just purely curious, but why do a lot of people keep saying john titor predicted this and that, when in the first place, given the fact that he is a real time traveler which he was claiming to be,then he was just stating supposedly facts that supposedly happened in his past in his own 'worldline'... thus, he wasn't predicting anything..at all.....correct me if im wrong...

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

daydreamercutie7

You're completely right. But no one cares about the facts around here.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

wow, the logical errors flow thick and fast around here.

stripped of alleged context or antecedents, everything Titor said was a prediction, by every definition.

And like all fallible predictions, particularly ones used to bolster a hoax, they were hopelessly wrong when held up to scrutiny.

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

o well.. just noticed some ignored things in the previous conversations... that made me more curious... but then it's just a hoax, after all... soo... haha..at least, it's worth the initial sense of controversy in my mind.. lol... /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

it could never be wrong to question...

Chinese proverb- ask a question and feel a fool for five minutes, don't ask a question and stay a fool your whole life. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

DDC,

thus, he wasn't predicting anything..at all.....correct me if im wrong

It's a matter of a frame of reference. Sure, from the frame of reference of a time traveler s/he would be making factual statements about history rather than making predictions.

On the other hand, if the people to whom he delivers the message exist in the past relative to the events spoken of then the TT is making predictions about their future.

Pre dicta, peri dicta, post dicta : speak before, speak during, speak after. The TT is speaking of events, from their perspective, before they occur - prediction.

You're not wrong. It's just a matter of looking at it from both perspectives.

Of course "dicta" in legal terms means "editorial" opinions expressed by the Judge that have no bearing on the issues being heard in the case. That definition fits the Titor Saga. Titor was opining about our future even though he'd never been there and had no more clue than anyone else what our future would be. We weren't really discussing our future. We were discussing his past and how screwed up his world was. That's the downside for Internet wanna-be TT's who toss in the old "Many Worlds Interpretation" dodge without thinking it through or knowing anything about Everett's interpretation of QM. (It's usually helpful if they take the time to read the paper before opining about it.)

Re: Titor\'s Collapse Still Nowhere In Sight

ei mr darby... thanks for spending some time explaining it to me..same with mr doghead & kerr...
