Re: Bush to Georgia...
Doghead,
Thanks for your post and a clear headed analysis.
I believe that I might have been the person who first brought up the issue of "the Olympics" and linked it to the Winter Games (though I could be mistaken). In my case I was aware that he probably meant the Summer Games, as you similarly conclude. My intention was to bring up, without stating that I thought that he meant the Summer Games, that his "predictions" were always somewhat vague and subject to interpretation.
But vague or not the 2008 Olympics were held and that directly contradicts TTO/Titor.
Now expect the standard response to come that relies on MWI and "changed timelines". He somehow changed the outcome here. The counter response is "piffle". If his interpretation of MWI is valid then his entire purpose is irrelevent. If there are actually an infinite array of complete alternate realities then no matter what he attempted to do in one reality has no effect what-so-ever. The outcome is precisely the same...an infinite number of alternate outcomes. There's no possible way to take the POV that he or anyone else changed anything in this or any other "reality". If it's infinite then it's infinite. Time travel related "change" becomes reductio ad obsurdum and makes time travel itself nothing more than a vacation to Switzerland...something different but nothing very important in the totality of the scheme of things.
