Sir Victor Goddard

Good point. I have included this account provisionally in my catalogue but I do think a psychometry/stone tape effect is possible. Having said that I have been considering the idea that a lot of things could trigger a real time slip, including residual memories as in this instance.

Keep in mind that the writer mentioned a "fog". Many people who have experienced time-slips mention some type of "fog".

True, there are a number of cases involving fog, including the famous Gernon case in the Bermuda triangle. But the majority don't feature fog or storms. Not sure if this means there are different causes for some time slips. Quite a few happen in bright sunny weather.

Just changing the subject slightly, have you come across an account in Liverpool, England about a young teenage lad shoplifter, who was being chased by a security guard, and the shoplifter experiencing a time-slip?

Yes, that's one of the best known Liverpool cases. The shoplifter, Sean, was chased into a dead-end alley, and the guard said he basically disappeared. He allegedly found himself back in the 1960s and confirmed this looking at a newspaper in a shop window. If true it's a very significant case.

If you have any more details about this case (such as the name of the security guard, the full name of the shoplifter etc) then could you post them ? Cheers.

Well hello TTI ! This is my first message and i apologize if i make any grammatical mistake since i'm no native speaker. I've been reading some stuff and found this topic very interesting because i think i may have seen an example of this phenomena. Last summer i was in Ephesus. (The ancient Greek city in Turkey) Even though i was born and raised in Turkey this was my first time in Ephesus and i was so fascinated that i left behind my cousins and started to wander around. So when i was standing alone between the tombstones of the kings an old man came near me. He was looking like a beggar, his beard was a bit long, greyish and dirty. I freaked out a bit because i was alone, i mean i could see other people of course (the place is always full with tourists) but still he was looking suspicious because of the way he dress. His clothes were grey but i think they were white at some point. Anyways, he started to talk in a weird language (kinda sound like Greek language but not really) and i tried to answer him in english by saying that i don't understand him. But he was still looking really confused and anxious. So i left him there and went to security to get him help. But when i came back with security in a couple of minutes there was no trace of him. I know how this sounds. :/ That old man could be anyone right? But his appearance was so weird and wasn't exactly like a regular Turkish man or any other Tourists that i saw. I don't know if there's a logical explanation to this but i have forgotten this man until i saw this topic.

Don't know the guard's name. One source gives the thief's name as Sean Wiggins -- I'll see if I can find a link:http://ttotu.com/category/time-slips-and-time-travel/page/3/
This gives a good summary of the case.
"The story caught the attention of the local media which interviewed Sean and even managed to find the security guards that had chased him on Hanover St. The guards said that they were only steps behind the young shoplifter when he turned onto Brooks Alley and disappeared."
I have tried to find info about the "local media" but cannot find anything at all, and have hit a dead-end (no pun intended). This story is only 9 years old, so should not be too hard to find in local liverpool/national newspaper outlets, but it's as if the story didn't occur and only exists on the web pages of all X-file type topics.

Yes, that's the report I have. It doesn't give the second name but True Tales of the Unexplained does, few weeks back. How they found out the name I don't know, unless they emailed Tom Slemen.

Abby, that is an interesting account. Can you possibly remember the exact date this happened? Did anyone else spot the weird man or was it just you? There are a number of similar reports at historic locations.

Because Tom Slemen was the person who wrote about the incident in the Liverpool echo, I am sure that the story will have added embellishments (due to him being an author). I would be interested to hear the security guards version of events and to hear Sean wiggins actually recount the experience himself.

You never know if a time line crossed or not. After all, you didn't recognize his language. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

The exact date was 22nd of August and time was around afternoon. (i just checked the photos i've taken.) But sadly i couldn't find anyone who saw that man. It was weird so i asked the security if anyone saw that kind of confused and weird-looking tourist but they told me almost everyone who come that place is weird-looking to them. :/ So they weren't really helpful. I told my cousins about him but they thought i was just making up a story since they know how fascinated i was because of that place. But one thing is sure, i really need to go Ephesus again!

I know, that's a bummer. Wish i could knew what was the real thing. Thanks for your reply though.

With so many people having cell phones with cameras now, you might think, pretty soon, we will have photographic or video evidence of these experiences. Although, if it is like it usually is, the video or pics will be really crappy quality.

Yes, there is obviously an overlap between time slip and ghost phenomena. As a rule of thumb I think that if you see a strange figure and its background (in the past) then it's a time slip. If there is just a strange figure in an otherwise modern background then it could be a ghost (if not someone in fancy dress etc.)
