The problem is that Russia is not our friend - never has been our friend. Moreover, in Russia's entire history it has has never been any neighbor country's friend, a friend of it's own non ethnic Russian republics or even it's own ethnic Russian citizens' friend. It has a history of murdering it's own citizens by the millions. So absent any evidence to the contrary to support your assertion that "Russia needs to know that the United States is its friend" nothing has changed. Russia is certainly not my friend so I'm not a part of the above referenced "we".

BTW - We discussed "Alas, Babylon!" ad nauseum years ago after I posted about two dozen specific "shared" (OK - plagerized) details between the John Titor Saga and Frank's novel. Most of the important details of the WWIII portion of Titor's Saga were lifted by Boomer virtually intact from "Alas, Babylon!" ("Boomer" is the name that I gave to Titor while he was posting because he is clearly, based on his posted ideas, a Baby Boomer .)

Why would I make such a seemingly unrelated connection? Because you posted this "Alas, Babylon!" thread in the Time Travel Discussion forum rather than the Off Topic forum so it's not too much of a stretch for me to surmise that time travel and probably John Titor is the motivation for posting it in this forum. I had the same reasons for questioning Boomer's seriousness in wanting to avoid WWIII by posting his anti-war story on a time travel forum instead of a political discussion forum.

Oh, our government has been just a bit better. As far as I know (tell me if I'm wrong) our government has yet to murder 30 million of its own citizens over the course of two decades (not counting an estimated 6 million Russian Jews on top of the 30 million) just because it could. I met my fair share of Soviet nationals prior to the fall of the USSR. Don't kid yourself over what communism is really about. As they say, Communism is not for the Communists; it's for the People. The Communists administer Communism to the People who have to live with it. And they don't complain or they simply disappear.

No, I don't think telling the Rodina that you love her and that she's your BFF is the best course of action.

Thanks Darby for calling them "cute" photos, do you remember when did the Soviet collapse? Russian government is no longer communist but democratic in the 21st century.

It might be diplomacy but the US has a closer relationship with the new Russia than with many other countries these days.

No, we can't be friends. Kruschev made very clear the intent of communism: "We will bury you." That hasn't changed. What's changed (and what is now under serious threat of losing all credibility) is the 60's-70's violent radical communist movement's infiltration of the Democratic Party.

Sure. If they want to make the trek over there and lift one for "liberty". They can stay a while, too. Just so long as they don't expect me to join in the fun if they choose to stay here.

And it's not the "hippie crowd" that concerns me. They were actually pretty nice folks. Many dumb as sticks (heavy drug use will do that) but basically nice people. It's the Yippies, not the hippies that are the concern. The Yippies were and are "YIP", Youth International Party and off-shoot of RYM II, Revolutionary Youth Movement II, that followed the break-up of SDS into the Weathermen and the Revolutionary Communist Party. RMY I and RYM II were run on the international large scale from the Kremlin by KGB as part of RIM . RIM (not to be confused with RYM) is the Revolutionary International Movement that as an arm of the KGB ran violent communist uprisings across the globe.

YIP (Jerry Rubins, Abbie Hoffman, and the rest of the Chicago 7) is the faction that started a major riot, tried to burn Chicago to the ground during the 1968 Democratic Party Convention (too bad they didn't succeed) and then crashed the convention, took everyone hostage inside the convention, had a police-hostage-terrorist stand-off followed by taking over the convention and party when the DNC caved in to their demands and are still in charge of the party to this day.

And yes, Chicago, SDS, RYM II, CP-USA, KGB, Democrats and the President's friends Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn: that Weathermen (with the exception that Ms. Dohrn thought "Weatherman" was too sexist a term so they changed it to Weather Underground).

Koombaya is the least thing on their mind.

No. I simply gave the current state of the Dem Party, how it got there and some of the major domestic players and the major foreign influences that were responsible.

Spies are people who are sent by Actor A to covertly obtain secret information from Actor B without getting caught (and hopefully without Actor B even knowing that the information was compromised). Agents provacateurs are not spies. They are sent by Actor A to covertly insite violence (riots, revolution, etc.) against Actor B by instigating the incidents through the manipulation of third parties who do not necessarily know that the agent works for Actor A. The dupes carry out the action and the agent slips away without Actor A being identified as the instigating agency. Should one of the dupes be killed that is a bonus. They usually become martyrs for the cause - so made, again covertly by the agents provacateurs, through third party manipulation. The prime example of such a martyr in modern times was Horst Vessel. The NAZI party instigated riots against the Wemar Republic, Communists and Jews (which, according to the Party were one and the same) by making it appear that the Communists were the instigating agency. Vessel was murdered during the period and was made a martyr for the Nazi Party whose theme song, Horst Vessel Leid, told the story of how he patriotically gave his life for the Party. Just how he really died is still a mystery and being killed by the SA or SS to become a "planned martyr" is not out of the question. What is known is that he was shot in the face as he opened his apartment door and not killed in the streets fighting for the cause as told in the song.

But that's what agents procacateurs and ministers of propaganda do "for the cause" - create "truth" from the air.
