Why didn't you guys trace Titor's IP address?
If he was online in our time, surely he'd have an IP address.

He claims he was from 2036 and came to visit his younger self in 1998.
He would be less than a year old in 1998, so what would be the point of visiting his younger self then?
 
As for his predictions, I don't see how they would be indeed true.
He was a hoax, yes. That explains entirely why you shouldn't believe the guy.
Time Travel is only possible in Hollywood.

You guys had the opprotunity to trace his IP address.
I'm sure he was online more than he claimed, and since he posted here, you could've done a WHOIS on him to figure out exactly where he was.
 
Uh yea, people did trace his IP and they were like: "Huh, Flordia. Just like he said. Damn, doesn't contribute any evidence either way. Damn."

It was aol dialup so whois wouldn't have told you much.
 
I have a couple of questions;

1.) WHO could even be bothered to track his IP address?
2.) WHY would they even want to do that?

They could have spend the time doing something more productive, like cutting their toe nails or such like.

Whether he was for real or not (i.e. not) the fact is, he really didnt have anything to say that warrents all the fuss that has been made. Civil war at any one time is going on somewhere in the world every day. He really didn't say a lot regarding the civil war to even make it worth while him mentioning it in the first place, not even as a warning.

He also got a bit annoyed when he went on about how he thought is was stupid that people were asking what his time machine looked like etc, instead of asking him about his views on stuff and what his mission was etc. Which makes him seem a bit dense to me.

After all if i said i was friends with an alien. Whats the first thing you would say; "oh wow, where does he come from, whats his philosophy on life and why is he on earth etc?"

No! the first thing you would say is, "what does he look like". Its human nature. Titor was just frustrated that people didnt ask him the stuff HE wanted them too. He wanted his hoax to move a little faster than it did. This is obvious from the off.

No point, just a cheap story as an excuse for using a computer with aol. According to what Titor has said on the net he has never claimed to have come from 1998. Except for the 1998 Art Bell fax which proves his entire story is a hoax, a quote from my favorite paragraph in the 1998 fax Titor sent to Art Bell:

Now for the future you might want to know about..Y2K is a disaster . Many people die on the highways when they freeze to death trying to get to warmer weather. The gov. tries to keep power by instituting marshal law but all of it collapses when their efforts to bring the power back up fail.

Titor's predictions in the fax are obviously 100% inaccurate. Besides these stories being similar to the story Titor later posted on the web in 2000 this faxer sent Art Bell the photos and the images of the 'time travel' manual in 1998. The faxer is authentically the same person that was later known as 'John Titor'.

I haven't read the JT book though and I don't plan on it, does it say
anything about 1998 in the book?

About the IP address, it has been stricken from the record I notice, probably from the forum moderators, they were probably friends of the hoaxer, does anyone know his ip address? I would like to do a trace on it, I have this neat program it only takes 1 minute to do a trace, but like
newbie said it really wouldn't show much with aol dialup.

RAZ - it's always fun to read what you have to say since you haven't read the material. In the posts after 1998, many believers think JT made references to the fact that he was surprised Y2K did not happen. He may even have felt he had something to do with it. The big question is, did JT call Art after he was with us or before?
 
qflux, it's fun to read your fanatical posts, are you my first stalker? dang I've always wanted a stalker. Heheh.. anyway, all I have to do is do a search on 1998, 98, and when it says "Finished searching the document." With no matches it's obvious Titor never mentioned 1998, I have read the material, more than I wish I had. Why the fixation on my posts mr. stalker? Try replying to someone elses posts, aren't stalkers suppose to pretend they aren't stalking? JT was suprised Y2K didn't happen? Last I checked the year 2000 happened, heheh... there is no question concerning the faxes, apparently you don't keep up. The faxes are from 1998, Art read them over the air in 1998, Titor sent Art the photos and manual scans in 1998, period.

What I have been trying to, with little success so far, is to examine the photos of his device. All the components should be recognizable as to whom manufactured the parts.
I have tried to zoom in on the stickers, because many printers put a part number on them, as well as copyright information.
It would seem that if the device was constructed in the future, it would have parts from beyond our current time frame.
 
That's right Raz... John Titor, Oliver Williams, Darby and me are behind every corner - watching everything you do and say. In fact, I have a program on your computer now that keeps track of every word you type - where you go and what you buy.

Ok dude, you obviously aren't smart enough to be in on such an elaborate hoax, but really what has motivated you to attack my posts in this way? I've never virtually 'met' you until you began posting replies to my posts, I'm confused about what you are attempting to defend.

I'm not defending anything. You're probably right about everything you say except of course when it comes to copyright law, public figures and the original JT posts. Your logic and problem solving methods are just so out there it's fun to read what you write. As long as I post when you do - you post again and the fun never ends!
 
It is blatantly obvious you have an axe to grind with me, yet I have never insulted you or even replied to any of your posts, unless I insulted one of your 'friends'. You're right I am right about everything including copyrights, public figures and the hoaxers posts. Your lack of logic is amusing though, you should probably lay off of the acid dude. The main point is, even if it was real - its not worth the effort. Theres nothing about it that really needs all this fuss that has come from it. Every second thread is a titor thread.

As for Titor being surprised about Y2K, well if you were a hoaxer, what are you gonna do, admit you were talking out of your arse?

How could his presence effect something like Y2K. The worries of Y2k would have nothing to do with timetravel. It was about Computer software.....

It's fun searching for me though, it's just a hobby, I hope to move on to
other stories, sorry to have posted so much on such a hopeless hoax.

Off that topic, I remember hearing about the modern human foot-print next to
and inside a dinosaur foot-print supposedly proving humans and dinosaurs lived
during the same timeframe, well after looking at other people's investigations
it's obvious all of the supposed 'human' foot prints are either a) carved by
an artist in the 20's, b) dino tracks on top of dino tracks creating an incorrect
yet track similar to a giant human foot, c) natural formations barley resembling
a human foot unless looked at by the face on mars guy.

So apparently time-travelers didn't kick it with the dinos,

About the spark-plug inside a geode, it was proven to be an early 1900's
spark-plug, originally published as being half a million years old, the
rock wasn't a rock, it was just hard dried mud.

So time-travelers didn't drop their model-T spark plug on the ground
500,000 years ago.

I'm interested in any other findings though, concerning claims of ancient artifacts
resembling modern day or future devices.

OvrLrdLegion, thnx for the link, yea I've heard that story before, on C2Cam I think. If proven it would help with the idea that the egyptians had ocean-worthy vessels, I believe they did. There are some obvious connections with the Myan and Egyptian pyramids. I don't know the exact time-frames but the language of the ancient north-south american inhabitants could probably be proven to have connections with egyptian.

I think all the fuss is warranted, but only because the creativity involved in this particular hoax was outstanding. As a work of fiction, the Titor phenomenon has really transfixed a legion. So it comes as no surprise to me that every other thread is a Titor thread.

Furthermore, I think "Titor" is here amongst us, making posts and defending his hoax under assumed names and identities. My theory - if somebody were to do an exhaustive internet search of message board postings regarding time travel, including not only historical posts during the time the hoax was going on, but current posts, they would be able to identify "Titor" by writing style, common grammatical mistakes, and term usage. I know some of this has been done already but I think the evidence continues to mount as "Titor" continues to post.
 
The Art Bell faxes are pretty interesting. I tend to think it's a hoax. And it took me a year since listening to Titor but I started listening to Art Bell again.

But if it's not a hoax it's pretty clear to me that JT was raised by people who hated how the media treated y2k and how the public reacted to the media claims. Maybe he lived with younger versions his parents for a couple years and felt he had to stick around and make the full story public.
 
Take it for what it is

If you choose Hoax.... Be cool and enjoy the light show

If you choose Possible.... Plan and try and stay ahead of the game

If you choose gospel..... Step up make plans you have four years to work it out and a further 5 to make effort to hunker down for the big bad decisions and further more you will be reponsible if Titor and his records are true to spawn our future generations and those tough enough to cath up will comply or meet my M16 and not take my fish and copper water distiller...

I choose life so I will prepare for the worst and hope it's all horseshit so I'm looking good during a nasty earthquake.

You know I haven't come accross Art Bell faxes and my understanding is that Johnny boy was here in 2001 and in all fairness for every comment on foul play in 98 there is a possibility that the name could have been taken off internet records as the first time traveller esque character to come through a medium and taken by the author and tempronaut to instill confusion for the nitpickers and we all know in this wonderful country you will be scrutinized so have a game plan... thats what I'd have done if I was a smart guy and wanted to keep folks guessing and questioning.
