Time Travel Question

Dr_stang

Temporal Novice
You have a [hypothetical] fantasy ticket to Any time/place. Where would you go and when? What would you do once you get there and how would you live? Finally, how would you escape getting caught/detected?

Curious to see who would be the best [hypothetical] TT.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

There would have to be a mission protocol stipulating what, who, when and where we might find once we get there.

There also has to be a valid purpose, which is board approved, in the allowing of any would--be time traveler to be allowed to enter into another time.

There are it seems slight variations when a timeline is visited, however I strictly go by the book and this means you act like you've been there all along and shut your mouth?

As far as time and place, I don't know here, again this is stated by mission protocols?

>Deepset missions to the far future seem of interests, as there are present day intimations that Earth may be going through a predicted shift in frequency to come?

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Saturday, July 28, 1973. Two miles east of here there were over half a million people gathered for Summer Jam. There was a lot of freaky stuff going on, all the roads were blocked with abandoned cars and everyone was on foot, AND a hard rain fell at times. It would be the perfect cover.

I wouldn't come home here, though. I wouldn't choose to meet my younger self and I wouldn't want to put my family through any kind of weird feelings....or fear, for that matter, because who knows how they would react? No, I would head in the opposite direction. Hitch my way to the west coast, telling fantastic stories along the way....the plots of movies that had not been made yet. Nothing about future reality. Nothing that anyone could use to gain an unfair advantage.

From California, I'd head north to Vancouver, British Columbia. I would walk into the Dairy Queen where Dorothy Hoogstraten was working....years before Paul Snider ever came on the scene. I would convince her to leave there. Snider would never even meet her. That sad chain of events would never be.

I would live a simple, unobtrusive life. I would not use my knowledge to gain financial advantage, but neither would I try to play God with the world and attempt to prevent every bad thing that happened. There would be no way to avert every accident, every murder, every tragedy. No one can be Atlas and it would be foolish to try. If I could save just one life that would otherwise be tragically lost, I would feel that I had done something extremely worthwhile. And if Dorothy and I didn't become romantically involved, it would be enough for me just to know that I had been able to save her.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

creedo299,
I'm giving you a hypothetical fantasy ticket to ANY place ANY time in the past. You can take anything you can carry(suitcase, backpack, wallet). The purpose you are there is up to you, why you wish to enter this place in time centers on your desire to do something. The big question is what you will do when you get there? How will you subsist? How will you avoid detection and not end up in a small dark cell(that is if they have cells in the time period you visit).

Projection time:(Estimate how long you need for whatever your purpose is(please don't say you want to retire there)).

Timeline is stable and 100% convergence to your past so absolute zero divergence(humor me and play along).

You may alter the timeline at will. All discretion is in your hands. Anything goes.

Here is my [hypothetical] fantasy story:

Traveling back in time to the year 28 A.D. Taking with me a small video camera with 24 packs of extra batteries, small caliber hand gun with 8 clips of 9mm, 3 weeks of lightweight freeze dried food, 4 lambskins of water. Spare outfits of raggy looking dirty white wool blankets that would cover me well. All items will be inside a dirty cowhide or possibly reed sack.

Destination will be Cairo, Egypt.

Purpose, to seek and find out who Christ is and video tape/study him. If he is a fake and just an ordinary man, I may execute him but only if I am 100% sure he is just a lying fake and is unable to give the time of day.

Time Extraction:5 years before pull out.

Subsistence:Work as a hired hand(foreigner who can't speak the language), beggar, deaf/mute/blind, cripple, anything else where I do not need to communicate with the natives much. Would in no way steal, murder or in any way cause attention/alarm. Fish/hunting and begging as a cripple will be the majority of my subsistence.

Would avoid detection/capture by minimizing contact with natives. Will be constantly on the move and only hunt/fish in secluded areas. While begging or in a location for a duration, I will try to understand the language and I will slowly follow any news of the appearance of Christ. Will try to avoid any liasons but will do my best to stay in my role as a crippled deaf/mute.

I will tell no one who I am or from.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Dr. Stang, did you know in the book, The Montauk Project, they sent a guy back naked with a thirty-eight caliber weapon and he shot at Jesus Christ?

Emptied the pistol at him, but with no effect.

So I have to ask you, are you painting a white wash here, or is this something similar?

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Never read the Montauk Project. I must have heard somewhere that they tried to videotape Christ but never received the full info(this was a very fleeting story I heard long ago that sounded just too unbelievable to bother with).
Sounds like the Terminator movie with Arnold trying to target someone for Execution. I most likely will not execute Christ even if he is a charlatan UNLESS he is a depraved, crazy-insane type of character. If i find he is a decent human being who is trying to better the lives of others I would document his life and simply leave on out. If he is much more than a normal human being I may end up staying longer than 5 years out. I certainly wouldn't use a low caliber handgun to kill a person(I am agains't painful torture).

Anyway, [for my hypothetical fantasy story] I decided to bring along a low caliber handgun that would help me to hunt. I'm very good at fishing but not so good at hunting without a rifle. If there are any fowls or any decent avian critters that will fill my belly for a day or two, my little caliber gun will come in handy(hunting with a low caliber handgun is not meant for the timid or unskilled).

I don't think i will seek out Christ immediately, more likely soak in the sights and learn the language and customs as best I can. I will have with me a hunting knife and a pack of lighters but not so sure if I want to go in with anything more than I already stated.

This is all only a sneak and study. I'm not here to be friends with or influence anyone(definitely not here solely for execution). I will look and act like a harmless transient just passing through. And boy o boy will I cry and look piteously when I beg for some crusty bread crumbs /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Nothing like a dirty starving deaf/mute crying in the dirt to bring out the compassion in people.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

David B,

Nothing is so simple my friend. Intervention isn't what it cracks up to be especially when trying to convince someone and then having to TRY and convince them not to tell anyone/everyone.

For me, i would be bored silly after a short time in 1973 and for you reliving the past all by your lonesome, you would too but with alot more angst i would guess. 2004 compared to 1973 really is alot of years and for someone in his 30/40's, you may become more bored/frustrated in such a life.

A crusader will eventually stick his head out too far or slip up majestically alerting the natives. A well lighted cell may await you for all your noble intentions. But it is doubtless that you will save lives who have died tragically. Why not just save alot of people by executing Paul Snider? You may be caught but you can out in a week.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

1) I'd go back in time to Germany when Hitler was just a baby and I would choke him to death in his crib.

2) I'd also like to travel back and witness Jesus' alleged miracles.

3) I'd travel back to last Wed. and give myself the winning Big Game numbers. The jackpot was something like 140 million dollars : )

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Well, Dr stang, Dorothy was 13 in 1973 and her father was abusive / absent. She needed a positive male figure in her life at that time, but didn't have one. She had anxieties that bred an ulcer, and she also started smoking. If there had been the positive male role model in her life, things may have been much different. Even if my role were simply as a 'big brother', that would be fine.

I've never really been very far from where I am right now, so there would be plenty to hold my interest in 1973, 3000 miles from here. And, as an enthusiast of 1970's Fords, I would find plenty of enjoyment. Give me the outdoors and good books and I don't get bored very easily anyway.

You might be right about Snider, though. Even if he never met Dorothy, he would still bear watching. Because he might have set his sights on one of the other girls who was working at that Dairy Queen in late 1977.

Nothing that a carefully chosen moment and a scoped Remington .308 wouldn't cure....

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

There is no doubt in my mind that Hitler should be executed or his future subverted. 1stborn, were it in my power, I would ask you to take part and lead in such an endeavor. I would however ask you to spare his life and instead drop him off at an orphanage somewhere in the United States in the same time period. Not because of any idea of mercy or justice, just because it would be satisfying to see him struggle and live in a new world where he can do no real harm. Besides, choking a baby is alot harder than it may seem even for the coldest of killers...and the guilt that may follow may pick at you even with the knowledge that you have saved countless ten's of millions of lives.

I would be proud to take you along with me if ever a way into the past when Christ was alive is found. We could team up and become either 2 ragged bums on the road looking for handouts or just a small bunch(I'm sure we can round up a few more people in here willing to go) of minstrels/troubadours/jugglers/what have you. It would be hilarious to see how far we can make it in this period before we get chased/attacked by the suspicious natives. We may need a quick out. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Note Readers* this is all [hypothetically speaking] so please don't misunderstand in any way.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Who am I to dare question your course/plan in any way. That you have decided to journey to intervene to save the life/lives of another/many others and to retire in quiet comforting peace speaks volumes of your character. I can only envy those who can find solace in the serenity of the outdoors. You sir are beyond reproach, for your qualities are noble for helping others and that you seek only tranquility of the soul is indeed the makings of a heroic Time Traveler.

Say, would you ever be interested in venturing to Egypt sometime in around 28 A.D.? Besides the obvious impossibility of such a venture, i am thinking that perhaps the general outdoors/people of the area may proove of some interest to you. You could be a member of our group of wandering beggers/entertainers. This plan is tentatively in the works and only with the grace of a miracle can come to pass. But don't let this deter you /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif I await patiently for your reply.

Warrior381,
Sorry about the thread post. I did a quick edit so check out the thread post now.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Warrior, rules state that he is not allowed by acceptance protocols, to show his time travel unit.

He can loosely describe, but not show.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Warrior381,
Sorry about the thread post. I did a quick edit so check out the thread post now.

yeah where is it?? I don't see it?? I don't see the message?? so no proof so no noting.....but that ok with me no real time travel machine so maybe you are a fake anyway but I don't care just let have some fun.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

I am at an utter and complete loss on how to respond to you. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/confused.gif Maybe you misunderstood what I wrote or who knows as I am new here.

Could anyone please clear up this confusion as i feel maybe Warrior381 may have misunderstood into thinking there was a real ticket to a past time/place.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Dr stang, the idea is intriguing but I must admit that Egypt of so long ago would put me too far out of my element. I would not be up to the task and would almost certainly be a detriment. And my heart would not be in it. My own chosen destination....that is my sole focus.

Someone once said (in 1973, as a matter of fact) "A man has got to know his limitations."

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

Let the issue of showing the time machine go Jacin, just talk around it for the time being?

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

creedo299,

It is perplexing how you and Warrior381 believe in any way that i alluded to owning a time machine. After carefully reading all the posts i can see how this may have happened so i went back and made a quick edit on all my posts that may have caused any confusion. I inserted [hypothetical] to ensure the reader that this isn't in any way based on what is real but more on the imaginary [hypothetical].

Please note that i am not a Time Traveler nor do i have a time machine or any equations/formula on this. I am not here to change the way people believe or to garner fame and accolade by being someonesomething that i am not. I have no mystic connexion or alien benefactor, no special knowledge or secrets. I believe i still grasp control of my mental faculty(but how would one know?). Nothing to gain(except good conversations with good people) and plenty of time to waste /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm just a wishful dreamer like most of the people here.

I am here to discuss Time travel and to bring out the imagination [hypothetical] that is within all of us. I hope this fully clears any misunderstanding.

Re: Time Travel Question: EVERYONE ANSWER

David,

Sounds like your plans are set and locked. If ever a way is opened to 1973 for you, may your journey be safe and your path clutter-free.
