Raz - I apoligize for baiting you. You obviously can type longer, more rambling posts than me so I guess you win. Unfortunately - it's still quite obvious you are insanly jealous, angry or both. Don't you realize that when this is all over (due to boredom or admission) you and the other crazies are what we'll all remember.

You don't think the JT author could prove it if he wanted to?
 
I don't believe I have ever seen Raz post anything saying that she thought JT was anything but a hoax. She seems to research pretty hard to disprove his story.

My point was - which must not have been very clear - was that in order for JT to be a public figure, he has to be a real person. If not - than JT is a fictional character who was created and owned by the copyright holder. Therefore - if Raz insists JT is a public figure, she must think he's real.

Being able to Google does not = research (in my opninon).
 
hmmm a sticky point you bring up. Can anyone who posts things on the internet be considered Real?
I am sure we will see this argued in court someday.

To name a few public figures, some have had much more publicity than others: Mickey Mouse, Buddha, Harry Potter, Donald F. Duck, Batman, Michael the Archangel, The Virgin Mary, the invisible man, John Titor, Jerry Seinfeld.

The concept of the "public figure" is broader than celebrities and politicians. A person can become an "involuntary public figure" as the result of publicity, even though that person did not want or invite the public attention.

JT is a public figure. JT is the pseudonym for the writer. If I knew the guys real name I would use it. Weather JT is a completely fictional character created by the writer it doesn't matter, JT is still a public figure.

Google is a good resource, unlike you, I go beyond the google barrier! heheh.. anyway qflux you ignored the question, did Darby send you here? Why so motivated to sign up here just to reply to my posts? What side are you on? There are basically 3 sides.

A. Attempting to prove it's a hoax.
B. Not attempting anything, just reading and posting for fun.
C. Pro-Titor, defending the story.

Originally I didn't care and was on side B, but I've been leaning towards side A for a while, I have more information on the story, but I prefer not to release it until more information is uncovered. While I did pin O'Doc as being a possible suspect, he is much too open to be hiding anything, so I will update that article concerning him. Oliver Williams, however, is hiding a lot, he claims to have been posting on these forums, or anomalies, for years, yet no-one even knows what his username is. Let alone his connection to the book.

What amazes me, is how purposely thick Darby is on the fact, that the miniature black holes, can only be simulated and are probably not fully reproduced.

He has to understand that these black holes, are only a simulation and not a full quality black hole.

Secondly' if the extended fields overlap, then this boundary would be hot, however a nonspecifity, or a non-specific boundary.

This boundary would be definite, enough to chew through the ground and take some of this earth with it, however not a blazing Kelvin registry of temperatures.

Darby is about a dumb as a fox and loving every moment of this.

In this area, they said it was flying saucers that did it, however big chunks of earth were moved, without tire tracks being involved, about ten to fifteen years ago, in these parts.

This could also be alien stuff too, or technical actions like it.

If you ask Raz, why she hates this whole affair, she can't put her finger on it.

I have the same feeling Raz, it's probably because this is an op.

PUBLIC FIGURE - A term usually used in the context of libel and defamation actions where the standards of proof are higher if the party claiming defamation is a public figure and therefore has to prove defamatory statements were made with actual malice. Harte-Hanks Communications v. Connaughton (1989) 491 U.S. 657, 666-668.

The "public figure" issue is not cut and dried. To begin with, a fairly high threshold of public activity is necessary to elevate a person to public figure status, Brown v. Kelly Broadcasting Co. A "particularized determination" is required to decide whether a person is a limited purpose public figure, Bruno & Stillman, Inc. v. Globe Newspaper Co. (1st Cir. 1980) 633 F.2d 583, 589, a standard ensuring that reasonable minds may differ on this subject.

Advertisements themselves are not usually sufficient to transform someone into a public figure. Vegod Corp. v. American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. (1979) 25 Cal.3d 763, 770 [a person in the business world advertising his wares does not necessarily become part of an existing public controversy]; Rancho La Costa, Inc. v. Superior Court (1980) 106 Cal.App.3d 646, 661 [advertising is not thrusting oneself into the vortex of a controversy].

Please notice where it says "person" and not superhero, cartoon or time traveler. So where exactlly does Batman fit into that again?
 
Publicity, the only reason I ever heard about titor is because of publicity, on Coast to Coast AM, many times, many news sites reported on it, a fricken play was made based on him, a book written about him, there is plenty of publicity for him to be a public figure.

Hey John Titor first started posting on this site. This site owns the story. And I though the woner of this site was advertising it for sale recently. I think it was a silly price of around 5K though. It should be selling for $500K just from the word of mouth of the high price the story would get to Hollywood eventually. Seriously Raul or whoever owns the board, set it to a million dollars or something and go on coast-to-coast.
 
An unauthorized version of the story could be turned into a book legally, the posts from Titor would just have to be placed in quotes with the cited sources of origin. Although I have no interest in doing this, I am thinking about writing a time-travel book though, if I did mention Titor, he'd just be an insignificant footnote. Probably something to the effect of his existance being a breif distraction from reality.

Had you been about this effort for any amount of time you'd know the absurdity of that suggestion. Take a close look at this copyright registration. There's a clue in it that very strongly suggests that there are more people involved than one. It is very unlikely that Larry Haber filed for the copyright.

Can you spot the problem?

Well I'm not exactly new, I remember when Art mentioned his fax back in 98 or 99. Anyway, I've been away from the chaos for 3 years, and I'm glad I have, it's easier to filter through the garbage from my perspective in my opinion. I know I'm one of the very few people that has seriously searched for a match to Titor's device, as I have seen zero results from anyone concerning this. From what I see many people accept the story as fact or dismiss it and are too lazy to do any research on the subject, and rightly so, the JT story was a poor hoax and doesn't really deserve any serious research. I'm just here for fun as most people probably are. It's just a hobby.

I actually take into account that, "The John Titor Foundation", "Oliver Williams" & "John Titor" are all at these forums posting. Anyone who would deny this possibility denies reality in my opinion. Williams admitted to posting here, he is very knowledgeable on the subject, he has been at the forums for a while, he plugged 4 forums when he was on the show: time travel institute, anomalies, time travel forum, fantastic forum, most likely the 4 forums he posts at. From my perspective these people in hiding can be seen. They could always pretend to be idiots asking idiotic questions, which they probably are, just to throw people off, they may be too busy laughing and counting their money to post, but if they are posting I would guess they are posting as someone very knowledgeable on the subject. To hide their identity they would pretend to believe in certain things etc. They currently have a monopoly on the Titor book market, I can see that they would feel threatened if anyone were to break their monopoly, 'anyone could if they really wanted to', anyone that would argue with that statement I would suspect as being one of the JT foundation goons, attempting to scare off people with the idea. I would welcome a book on the subject with realistic views, but as I said earlier I would never buy a single JT product. The story is old and stale, even by mentioning it I'm probably helping them sell books. Hopefully another hoax will overshadow this one.

To my knowlege, Oliver Williams has not posted in the timetravelforum. If he has, it is under a different nick. His site, johntitor.com, is simply our affiliate. That is why he plugged our forum.

The whole point is, nobody knows what his nick is. Do you have any idea? I doubt he would dedicate an entire website on Titor without having interacted and posted many times at some of the said message boards, I don't know if he posted at all or just one, because nobody knows his nicknames.
