We will more than likely change software. The theme is nice, but xenForo isn't going to allow the kind of integration we need between "WordPress" content (where TTIDB, Chronovisor sttuff, articles and the shop live) and the rest of it. I tried splitting it in two, but it's terrible for SEO and just not worth the amount of work it requires to tie the two together in a way that ultimately doesn't blend very well.
Articles, for example, should be tied into the community. ClassicalFan is writing awesome, interesting stuff... But it's off in the woods the way things are set up now. You have to go looking for it on purpose,, rather than it showing up in an activity feed alongside everything else. People should be able to submit their own articles also... Right now there's not a good way to do that.
We were making the WordPress bit the home page for a while, but it wouldn't tie into the forums. Now that the forums are the home page, it doesn't tie into the articles. It's two separate sites with no way to "complete the feedback loop" so it all stands as one entity. The same goes for Notable Claims, all of the TTIDB stuff and everything else I'm trying to do that is "non-forum". It needs to be integrated rather than having to choose to visit one or the other (at the expense of one or the other).
I'm approaching this carefully and I'll show you guys what I have in mind when I get that far so you can mess with it and figure things out before we pull the trigger. It will make sense and not be a whiplash change where you visit one morning and it's just different.
