I'm wondering which video/interview you were watching??? Nowhere in the 14 minute video interview did Bhutto refer to Osama bin Laden being alive mulitple times!!! She mentions Osama Bin Laden's name once (in reference to him being murdered). She also mentions Hamza Bin Laden once (a son of bin Laden). With due respect, it's evident you have not even watched the interview in question.
"On the other hand, I could see why one of Osama bin Laden's children would announce his death."
Hold your horses... where did you get this notion of a death announcement from? From what I remember, one of his sons was being interviewed about his private life and his son mentioned his father's death in passing (not an official announcement as you seemed to have inferred).
One point you have not addressed is the egyptian post detailing the death and funeral of Bin Laden in 2001?
Also, here are some other points for you to ponder: (I have copied and posted this):
In official al quaeda statements, bin laden adamantly said he played no part in the 9/11 atrocity.
Within hours of US air strikes on tora bora region on October 2001, Bin Laden made his first video appearence, looking pale and gaunt with a grey beard & rejected any responsibility for 9/11 attacks. He made another video appearance in November 3rd 2001, still looking gaunt, grey bearded etc....
Silence until December 13th 2001 (the date after many considered him to have died). On december 13th, the US GOVERNMENT released a new video tape of Bin Laden, who now claims responsibility of 9/11. He now looks a more weighty, healthy person, with a black beard and not a grey one. Furthermore, Bin Laden can be seen writing with his right hand, although he is left-handed.
