And there she was, in the flesh.
"Alice??" I questioned, along with my eyes and other senses. Dark brown hair. Blue penniform dress. Ruby red slippers. It was as if she was plucked out of time from when we first met. The only thing missing was the chess board.
"Halo, Herzensschatzi." She said with her playful German accent. "Yer looking good, have you been exercising?"
Now it was me who was blushing. I glanced over at Persephone and caught her winking at me. Right then, I knew what I had to do. So I ran up, grabbed Alice by the waist, and pulled her in really close.
"Mo grá, ro chách n-áluim" I whispered in her ear in old Irish.
"It's your move. Möchte er mich küssen?" She said sweetly.
I leaned Alice back and kissed her, completing the conduit. Primordial energy swept through the halls. All of the immortals stood in amazement except Hades and Persephone, who stood like proud parents.
She grasped my hands tightly. "You know what this means, right?"
I could feel the gravity increasing.
"We don't have long. I…don't have long, I mean…" Alice seemed sad.
"How long?" I asked.
"24 Earth hours." She gissped under her breath.
"Come again?" I said.
"I have 24 hours..." Alice spoke a little louder.
I lit up with excitement "TWENTY FOUR WHOLE FRICKEN HOURS??!"
So yeah, a whole Earth day this time.
Is this what happiness feels like?
