We are, by our very nature, a pretty arrogant species. And most certainly I include myself in this assessment. I may know a fair amount of facts about a vanishingly small number of areas of general human knowledge (engineering). And then, when you place that superset of general human knowledge in context of the much, MUCH larger set of all knowledge (which we cannot even begin to estimate even in our current state), you may start to see the case for why we shouldn't be so damn arrogant to think we can EVER understand how everything in the universe works.
