We can never go back

I'm greatly interested in this subject and without being negative, if time travel ever becomes possible which I think is an extremely remote possibility for what purpose would we go back and how on earth could we possibly take the risk to prove it possible.
 
Depends on if and what there is as multiverse theory -- parallel universes. And why would anyone time travel? I guess that answer would have to come from the ones who decide (whether a government agency perhaps?).
