You're quite right, it's not fake. If you click on the link underneath it ("Read more about the Golden Record Cover") for more information, then click again on the new picture that appears for a bigger version you can learn that the "laser symbol" I think you're referring to actually "defines the location of our sun utilizing 14 pulsars of known direction from our sun. The binary code defines the frequency of the pulses".

So, the picture on the site is real. If you're saying it's identical to something John Titor put up, then another nail in the coffin bangs in quite convincingly.
