titor article

And I thought you be interested in this:

Duh-o!

What's the purpose of that Absurdity of that weblink you gave?
That there is only one agenda to be concerned about?
That some people will not give up a way of life and change and be flexible in the way that they think. It all has to be put together. When it all is considered, the Government is only responding to what the people are doing. Perhaps nowadays too many people want to be Absurd with the way that they think, and now it is taking over that "Green" is in. When was it not in -- in the first place?
When you have Corporations only selling what other people want to buy -- then who is really at fault?

So now, the Government is suppose to make you do what is right or correct? It is not doing that, and it is I guess trying to compensate and handle it. Which fanatic is more correct? And if not that term, then what term would the hate want to use?

The Government will not nuke you although they may have the N-weapons aimed at all of you, but other Nations may.

The delusional distortions are the fault of faulty thinking on the part of those people who want other people to follow some sort of band-wagon approach to the way that you think. Call it propaganda or whatever, it is seemingly an agenda where:

Only the approach of the agenda was changed after the Civil War of the '60's and more lawyers were used -- the rest - was really never officially really ended -- it could all revert back someday - I hope it does not -- but with all the propaganda then the rest of the people have to do some real thinking - and most people do not have time to keep being put-off by these type of (at least to me) fanatic ways of thinking -- either this way or no way. Think of how many people actually think they are doing this Country any Good, then really look at what they really are doing -- it does not match up, and they do not want to lose money - so Large Cities are going "Green"?

What led up to it all being distorted anyway in the first place?
Making money?
Without consequences?
Some delusional type of thinking?
Some fault of more normal people thinking it may just be all ridiculous?
When someone said "Follow the Leader" of whomever that person expects to follow as the Leader (and that may not be the President) or were more people expected to Lead?

Unfortunately, most people's 15 minutes of fame was up a long, long time ago, when someone decided to make a joke using that phrase "15 minutes of fame for everyone".

The rest is up to people who do not think that they are more important to lead than perhaps anyone else, but still insist (like a Civil War of the '60's that really never ended) to tell you that they are more important - for some reason -- anyone else still decides that they can not ever figure out.

They insist that they are smarter all the time but with no References to that Claim. That -- is Slavery - in a sense that they want to give out - and the rest ignore it - until it:

Slaps them in the Face like a Wet Fish.

TimeNot,

I "grok" the article. It was a humorous poke at the Believers.

Some folks take the Titor Saga way too seriously. There's always the possibility that Boomer-Group Titor were pulling everyone's leg with the story, especially the legs of the Internet Conspiracy Theorists. They tossed into the mix virtually every Internet hot-button conspiracy item of the day. For some reason there were a lot of people who were amazed that all of those items popped up in the news sometime after he posted them. To this day, even though I've pointed it out several times, I don't recall a single Believer who has taken the time to review the Internet information about each of his items to discover that they had been yacking points for years before he appeared here. It wasn't at all amazing.

Now, I enjoyed the story. I've received a lot of pleasure debating the thing over the past seven years. But I don't take it seriously and a close inspection of the story leads me to believe that Group Titor didn't take it seriously either.

Are there problems in the world? Of course there are. Did Group Titor tell us anything that we weren't already aware of? No. Was their science reliable? No, not really. It was based on some generalized BH theories with a lot of Internet pop-sci. But the details, the few that there were, are not consistent with what was known then nor are they consistent with what has been since discovered. But the average poster then or now hasn't taken the time to look at the real science, even in a pop-sci presentation, so they can compare what he suggested with what is believed to be correct.

Examples:

Titor told everyone that he could flip a switch and turn the BH on and then flip the switch again and turn it off. Does anyone really believe that BH's have an off switch? What does the physics community say about that?

Titor said that he could almost instantly enter the horizon of a newly created BH and safely travel to where ever. What does the physics community say about new and old BH's? The interior spacetime of a newly created BH is virtually ripped apart by reverberating gravitational waves that "bounce" off the interior surface of the event horizon. The interior spacetime is extremely unstable. There is no "safe" route through the ring singularity until the spacetime is no longer ripped by the gravitational waves.

timenot, are you trying to be rude, or compliment me? i cant really seem to tell...

"Duh-o!

What's the purpose of that Absurdity of that weblink you gave?"

the purpose was to laugh. you know how to laugh right? regardless if you believe in titor or not, its still pretty funny. and if you read what he wrote after the interview, its even more funny. you know the guys not titor, so why get your panties in a wad? :D

and as far as worrying about all that crazy "ooohh nooo, the worlds gonna go poof" stuff, live your life like ya wanna, but i myself will try to stay on the positive.

and if or when the shitaki hits the fan, ill be around to protect ya.

have no fear! i can deflect nukes with my ultra-patended ridgehand strike! hiya! :D

now im off to hunt down csm. i hear he's stalkin some monagle feller... /ttiforum/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

No, I am not trying to be rude. Either a person is rude or not, but that seems to be indicated by what some other people think and it may be assumptions or a false conclusion. I will give an example. I went to college a few years back while Titor was posting. At the time I had to catch up with whatever it was all about. But like taking programming in college, first a student write a program as an assignment, then you sit there and then examine why the program does not work. You correct some mistakes you missed and the program still does not work.

First of all, the students like a lot of students do -- were assuming or jumping to a false conclusion. The program did not work, because the student really, really was not thinking in the first place, but only thought that they were. That the program should work. Anyone who has taken Engineering Courses or even Math in College should at least learn that -- you can not assume or lead yourself to a lot of false conclusions and get any homework done.

So to me, if that is humor, it went way beyond what I think is humor, because they really were to me assuming that everyone should immediately think that it was humor. First those people should perhaps ask theirselves like programming a program -- "Why would anyone think that it was humor?"
It seems to me to be a dark humor, so to me, it is not all that humorus.

Same way with some of the people this world. That in the end it does not really make a difference. I would hate to see the world go like a stray dog into the ozone twilight brain thinking because this world thought that it was thinking. Most of the time, there are still actually a lot of people really thinking. They may have different ideas on how to approach the future and what to do about it and change and be flexible in what they are thinking and come up with finally something that does work. But just to me then, that website seemed like some dark humor about it. I just suggest better humor in the world, at least to me. Of course you can say that it is my problem, but what do you suggest is then the Muslim Extremist problem then of having you think the way that they do, or they will end your life if they get a chance?

Although I can only relate how I feel about the website and the humor, the rest is the rest of the other foreign Countries and how they really do think in this World. However, it seems that if attacking someone that is not really liked -- like Titor's story will make them feel better -- it still will not change the world. It is a push and pull into a direction that leads to a better future and not a worse future.

I just think that some of the humor is to me -- out of place, and that is all.
:D

I still think that even with the Titor Story, he did bring up some relevant facts about what the future and thinking about it really means. That part of the story may be glossed over, and only the claim of him being a "time traveller" brought up, but first you need a definition of what that means also. Is it physical or of the mind with the time travelling?
Actually to me it is both, and to me the JT Story still has some merit, like writing a computer program that leads one to think that they were not actually thinking in the first place, but assuming that a program would work, only to find out, that there was way more work involved with getting a computer program to actually work the way it is intended to work, like any math problem or Engineering problem brought up. Corrections are made, but first someone has to bring up that it needs corrections, usually the boss on the job, but still, someone had to bring it up first.
That is about the only thing that may make the story unique and ending up in an Wikipedia because of the interest it generated across the Internet and still does somewhat to this day.

TimeNot,

I still think that even with the Titor Story, he did bring up some relevant facts about what the future and thinking about it really means.

Now, I agree with you here in concept. But Titor didn't bring anything up that was new or "news". As I said above (and have said many times), nothing that he posted was something that could only be known by a "time traveler". Every topic that he included in the political commentary of his story was already being discussed widely. He, and I assume the other members of Group Titor, was obviously an Art Bell "Coast to Coast" listener. His story didn't appear here initially even though he chose to post here initially. The story first appeared as two faxed messages to Art Bell to be read on-the-air in 1998. Art Bell is a radio entertainer. He is not a news reporter. He's there to make money in the entertainment industry - something that I have absolutely no problem with. It's fun but it's not to be taken seriously.

One might jump to the conclusion that Titor traveled back to 1998 from 2001 to deliver his message about Y2K. But the history had already evolved, in 2001, that said that Y2K was a non-incident over all. All his faxes did was to echo Gary North's frequent guest speaker message that had been appearing on Art's shows throughout 1997-1998 and on to late 2000. Gary North could take credit on a level of many orders of influence over what Titor posted. Yet the Believers conclude that Titor was the influence that "stopped" Y2K. The problem is that IBM 5100's and the evolved PC computers were never the real issue in Y2K. Embedded stand-alone specialized systems were the issue - not PC's. Titor never said a single word about the real Y2K problem of embedded systems using ancient programming languages - he simply reiterated Gary North's "everyone is donna freeze to dead or otherwise die in some hideous fashion" message. It didn't happen and neither North nor Titor had anything to do with the resolution.
