Time travellers; impossible to make valid contact here

So here we are, still searching for a re-entry point, and as of yet, no luck. That is expected to some degree when the original insertion point is weak, less stable, and right on the border of normal parameters. Enough complaining and on to the point of this posting. Let's suppose that a 'real' time traveler did indeed visit your era, stumble upon a library, examine the computers in said library, and discover this webpage. Then, out of curiosity, try to make a posting and explain who he or she is. Would you honestly expect to believe any claim of time travel from that person? Of course not, because in 2014 such things are only dreamt of. Certain high-minded people will pick you apart, using antiquated science to do so.
As a result, the curious time traveler responds with silly lies or absurd explanations, then leaves, since there is obviously no point in communication with someone who actually has no idea about how the process functions.
So, I have said my peace, and now I will leave again; but this time, I will not offer any patronizing words to the skeptics, false scientific data, or anything else. (Would anyone here truthfully expect a time traveler to share technical information?)

Just a non-scientific fan of this place, and, in particular, of the formidable gray matter duet comprised of Rainman and Darby. I wouldn't dream of challenging you with science---I is just a lowly artist who wouldn't know a black hole from a digital ink splat. But I just have to ask: what was the point of your post if you intend to offer nothing and decline to interact with the lowly likes of us 2014 primitive creatures? You have already done your patronizing--that ship has already sailed. You've closed the door on any possible meaningful discussion. So why did you bother to type? Trial balloon?

And the answer is, having "stumbled onto this webpage", reading the posts to discover its purpose and personality why would a time traveler object to or even be surprised at all about "certain high-minded people [picking him/her] apart, using antiquated science to do so"? S/he should come onto a discussion forum and not expect the story to be dissected and in other forms discussed?

Better question: Given the awesome and as yet to be proven possible scientific and engineering accomplishments necessary for such technology, does it make sense that the mission profile would be to travel back in time in order to come to an admittedly very cranky alt-sci website to make claims of time travel, state that s/he cares not whether the story is believed and refuse to offer any credible proof of the claim? Billions if not trillions of (whatever the unit of exchange is translated to our dollars) invested, decades and more likely centuries of research expended just to troll an alt-sci forum? And the people "back home" approved the nonsense? The purpose of a time travel program is to play "I know something that you don't know"?

the only way to accomplish the mission (should i call it?) of this kind of website, in my opinion is to redact a scientific protocol that could be used officially, i mean, let's suppose that in the "future" this website has become a reference point for time travel (at least it is called "time travel institute", i mean, it's sounds official). In that case, and only in that case a traveller should come here to search for help, informations and whatever, image to go in the past for a mission about the first days I don't know, of the CIA for example, you will face a bunch of unorganized politicians and militaries that has nothing to do with the actual office... I hope to have been clear.

IMHO we should start to think about this place as a perhaps-official place, and discuss some key points (which i really don't know)... and maybe in the future this place will be so famous that a traveler will firstly try to contact people here.

For that to occur someone is going to have to make an offer to Raul to buy the site. We are scheduled to close down in December. Raul (MOP) has run the site and paid the expenses out-of-pocket, managed the servers and spent a couple thousand of hours keeping us online for almost 20 years. He wants to move on. He and his wife (both members of the forum though they rarely post anymore) have a business to run and a life to live outside of TTI.

Perhaps a paid-subscription model with a common goal to remain ever ready and vigilant as a resource to assist potential time travelers in any way while retaining utmost confidentiality outside the group would cover both goals. I would envision it as kind of a "Knights Templar" type of organization, devoted to a higher and honorable cause. But without the chastity and other negatives that I'm sure others will remind me of. Maybe a poor metaphor, but you know what I mean. Might also curtail the looney bin if there was an entry fee at the door...

Paid? Probably not. Look around and count the active posters. There are fewer than a dozen. That's about the count for the past five years. Alt-sci sites that go paid-to-play die in a few months. That's what happened to Art Bell's second attempt after he closed down the free Post-2-Post forum in 2001. It was previously a very popular forum. When he brought it back as a paid subscription site it died a quick death. No one really wants to pay to see cranky posts about Grays, Replilians, MIB's, Astral Time Travel, HDR's, Tesla Coils and "Einstein was wrong and I can prove it...if someone would just help me with the math" psychotic-babble. I surely don't and wouldn't.

You may have heard in recent days that there is a firestorm going on in the tech world concerning US high tech companies out-sourcing US jobs to foreigners. One side says that its an attempt to undercut wages here. The other side says that there are simply insufficient numbers of US citizens qualified in math and science to fill the jobs.

Again, look around this and like sites. Therein lies part of the answer. On the whole the average poster has little to zip-point-nada math and science skill. And the majority are US citizens. US schools emphasize social "skills", political correctness and a host of other ideas that have no value whatsoever to the student preparing for the real world. Then they go to college, take the easy route and major in anything and everything that does not require math or science beyond the general education pre-reqs to graduate. Then they complain that they can't get a job. But they do know a boatload about HDR's, Astral Projection, Out-of-Body Navigation and, of course, "Einstein was wrong and I can prove it...if someone would just help me with the math." Yup. Google really, really needs thousands of those folks to fill hi-tech slots.

Good points, Darby, and I believe you mentioned the past failures of paid models to me in the past. It certainly bears repeating. And I do believe you have a great point about maths and science. I certainly wish I had veered down that route in my schoolage years. My question is whether there could not only be a different model, but a different audience subset of what is already here, a select few willing to pay to be a part of something exclusive. It wouldn't have to be a for-profit operation - it could be a mutually run organization by a few wackos like myself where pooled monies served to pay for expenses. Fewer users would potentially lower bandwidth costs. For that matter, it could be done using a different URL and organization name, but the history and userbase of TTI (even if only a low percentage is active) would be appealing to a setup like this.
