time travel trrough speed and distance

Hello I am new here, this is a theory that I have been sitting on for a while. It is completely theoretical I just want to see what kind of a response I get. It probably was thought of before but I have never seen it. Ok say the was such a machine that can travel at a speed faster than light. And we hopped aboard and traveled away from the earth at a speed that is any amount faster then the speed of light for any distance. It is like when a light is omitted off from a star it take millions of light years to reach our planet so we are looking into the past in a way we are watching it as it was not as it is at this day. So if we were to be past the speed of light and were looking back at he planet with this super telescope we would see time as it was, we could see past events. This would take an amount of calculations on position of hemisphere and time away. And then suppose while traveling you were to look back the planet would appear to be spinning backward. But this advancement in technology is far off or maybe impossible but if we did have it I think that this is completely possible. But that is a big If.
