Time travel and evolution

Lets suppose at some point in the future time travel is possible.
Then scientists could study all there is to be studied about DNA/Genetics and travel back in time.
In the past they could find a group of primates and alter their DNA to make humans.
And so the human race is born.
But could the scientists travel all the way back to before evolution began,
and create the first self-replicating cell on Earth from which all evolution arises from?

good question my son! cant see it being possible though because the people from the future that came back to change the DNA to create humans would have first have to be evolved themselves. im not sure how to explain what im thinking but i dont think that its possible to change evoltion to create yourself to go back in time to change you into what you are now.

i think aliens are time travellers that are us from the future, look at evolution and we will look like what the "classic" alien looks like in the future. and judging by human history and behavior i think that the abductions and torture etc is very likely.

What's to stop time travellers going all the way back to time=Zero and then for them to create the big bang!

But in answer to your question, maybe all over the universe planets start evolving life as a result of the planet's future time travellers returning to before evolution and seeding the planet.
