Theory - you might have already heard it

Hi there. I'm new here. Please don't flame me if you've heard and discussed this already.

I read an interesting theory which proposed that at the very moment the first working time machine is perfected and activated, that time travellers will begin to appear all over the world, since they won't have been able to travel back to a time before the machine was invented and operating.

I don't know what to make of it, but it's interesting. Any thoughts?

The machine would simply dissapear once it went back to the time it was built.
if that was the case, wouldnt the person dissapear if they went back to before they existed. no the machine is a physical thing and couldnt just disapear if you were with it

Theres a difference between the person and the machine. First off you couldnt go back to before you were born because (assuming the machine was invented in your life time) you cant go back in time to begin with. You would only be able to go back to the point the machine became operational in. The person could go back as far as the machine is able to go with out changing because he is IN this machine and therefor protected from such things.
