The Higgs boson particle is sabotaging the LHC?

"A pair of otherwise distinguished physicists have suggested that the hypothesized Higgs boson, which physicists hope to produce with the collider, might be so abhorrent to nature that its creation would ripple backward through time and stop the collider before it could make one, like a time traveler who goes back in time to kill his grandfather."

This is interesting because John Titor spoke about the LHC in geneva swiss being an integral part of the discovery of time travel. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I want people to ponder why the Super Conducting Super Collider in Texas was abandoned.

Titor spoke about the LHC in geneva swiss being an integral part of the discovery of time travel.

No. He didn't say that at all. All he said was that a large circular facility would be so involved. He never mentioned CERN in that context by name.

To Darby:

My family has a place near geneva. Last time I check, cern was near geneva.

Yareisa : I'm hooked
TimeTravel_0 : In about a year...
G° : is this the omeg point theory?
G° : omega?
TimeTravel_0 : CERN will discover some very odd things as a result of their high energy experiments.
TimeTravel_0 : in about a year.
TimeTravel_0 : from your point of view.
wyrmkin_37 : cern?
TimeTravel_0 : in Geneva.
Yareisa : particle accelerator
wyrmkin_37 : oh
TimeTravel_0 : They will accidently create microsingularities.
G° : makes things go round and hit each other...
TimeTravel_0 : Which will evaporate very quickly.
wyrmkin_37 : one in texas?
TimeTravel_0 : and create a massive ammount of X-ray and Gamma rays.
TimeTravel_0 : It will puzzle them for a while.
TimeTravel_0 : Until they figure out how to add and elcrtical charge and capture these strange odd and massive particles in a magnetic field.

Oh come off it. Anyone could have 'forecast' what Titor 'predicted'. And anyone could have got it dead wrong, as Titor did.

Why are there still so many people who fail to grasp that Titor got not just one prediction wrong....but every single one that he made.

Exactly as I said. Where in the context as given by you did he mention time travel and CERN together? BTW: He also said that the discovery at CERN would occur "in a year or so". That was almost nine years ago. It's still not online for shakedown let alone running the experiments that are lined up. He's going to run into his Titor's World War III prediction before LHC is up and running experiments.

To Darby:

You said "He never mentioned CERN" Well, John Titor AKA TT_0 did. Perhaps you should read the story before you attack. Also, many of his predictions have come true.

Also, many of his predictions have come true.

Utter nonsense !! NOT ONE single Titor prediction ever came true. None. Zilch. Zero.

Not only has not one single prediction come true....but he predicted things that were widely off the mark. Such as civil war in the US in 2004, and the scrapping of the 2004 Olympics.

I challenge anyone to name me a single Titor prediction ( out of about 100 ) that came true. Thus far, Titor's success rate is 0 out of 100.

Er...what maths are you using where Zero is 'many' ??

Why does everything need to be related back to John Titor on this forum? HDRKid you should be ashamed of yourself for buying into this quackiness that keeps all the crazies coming here instead of sane people who could actually have a nice discussion about time travel and not refer some tubbo in his basement pretending to be a time traveler.

To concusion3:
The bulk of the predictions John Titor made have come true. the only thing a debunker can do is say - that was obvious. Realize the world we live in was changed by his predictions.

To Twilight:
You said - Utter nonsense !! NOT ONE single Titor prediction ever came true. None. Zilch. Zero.

There are many John Titor Predictions that came true, but some did not because his timeline is different than our own. Also him telling giving us a warning helped avert the catastrophe.

Here is a list of John Titor Predictions.
TV over internet (YOUTUBE?) – TRUE
Wireless WiFi internet – TRUE
No WMD in Iraq – TRUE
Loss of liberties (Patriot Act?) – TRUE
Last Olympics in 2004 – FALSE
Not a lot of cars built – TRUE
Public transportation improves – TRUE
Computer processor speed and memory size take dramatic leaps forward – TRUE
Civil War in 2004 – FALSE
We do not return to the moon – TRUE
China will put a man in orbit – TRUE
Bandwidth of internet increases greatly – TRUE
Plasma & LCD TV replace tube – TRUE
Digital camera replaces film – TRUE
Solar energy a big deal – TRUE

Time Traveller John Titor said -
Again, entertainment is less centralized. There are “movies” and “TV” but everything is distributed over the net and more people produce their own “shows”.

Strangely prophetic eh? /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

concusion,

Moreover most of what The Kid posts as Titor "quotes" are inaccurate, as is the case above. That can be attributed to the faulty memory of a 12 year old (at the time that Titor was posting) who does not check his facts before posting as a 21 year old. Instead, he uses JohnTitor.com, who seriously edit Titor's posts, as his source for Titor material.

Titor didn't say that digital would replace film. He did say that they use more digital than we were using in 2001 and that film is used as an artist's canvas.

He didn't say that no WMD's would be found in Iraq. He suggested, through a question, that finding the WMD's in Iraq would be used as an excuse to widen the war.

Also notice how The Kid couched his "True" conclusion about solar energy: "solar energy is a big deal - TRUE." This is what we call "trivially true".

Solar energy is "a big deal" - of course it's a big deal. But Titor never said solar energy is a big deal. He just asked the question, "Does anyone know who owns the majority of the solar power research and development companies?" (And that was actually in one of Pamela's posts where she redacted some of an email communication between herself and Titor. No one seemed interested in the question because no one responded.)

"Not a lot of cars built – TRUE" Uhhhh...yuh think? In Titor's Saga not a lot of anything was being built. In his story the Earth was destroyed by a nuclear war and half of the population was dead. Not a whole lot of need for cars when the industrial base is destroyed. You know "the bases" like factories and oil extraction and refinement infrastructures. Again, can you say "trivially true"?

This one about the cars is another case where The Kid is trying to show you how he is a great prognosticator by making favorable comparisons to himself and Titor without refenencing the context in which Titor's statement was made. You know, comparing his prediction of an economic slowdown with a nuclear war that kills 3 billion people and destroys the planet. Of course any negative economic scenario that anyone comes up with can be "verified" by comparing it with Titor's Stone Age Economy and discovering that both predict "economic difficulties".

TV over the internet was ALREADY happening when Titor 'predicted' it...lol ! In fact the first internet TV program was as far back as 1994

Same goes for wireless wi-fi. Wi fi protocols were agreed some 3 years before Titor posted.

'Public transport improves' is so vague as to be meaningless.

As for computer speeds increasing dramatically...Moore's law on the doubling of processor speed every 18 months was created as far back as 1965 and had been true right up to Titor posting. So what's the big deal that he posted it would continue ?? Anyone could have forecast that.

Hmm...and I'd love to know what NASA is spending billions on the Ares rocket for, and designing the Orion spaceship...if there's no return to the Moon.

China's man in orbit happened only 2 years after Titor 'predicted' it.....and was patently obvious from China's space program at the time.

LOL....and as for internet bandwidth increasing, well of course it has !! Anyone could have forecast that in 2000.

I can't be bothered with the rest...it's just more of the same. All things which had already happened, were happening, or were blindingly obvious would happen soon

In fact....the only ones that don't fall into that category are the one's you labelled 'FALSE'. Everything else could have been 'predicted' by a 2 year old kid at the time.

So...I stand by my assertion....NOT ONE single Titor prediction ever came true. None. Zilch. Zero.

I would imagine that the amount of fiddling the books of nature required to do this would likely be even more abhorrent to nature.

Re: The Higgs boson particle is sabotaging the LHC

Has anyone determined what Titor's alleged time machine(shown above)really is?

My suspicion is that it is an Army or Airforce field radio. It's just about the right size for a light armored unit to drag around on the back of a jeep for field communication. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/devil.gif

Several years back I saw a JEEP brand portable radio at a church rummage sale. It was in camoflage green and the box and lid were very similar. The location of the dials and such were also similar, but I didn't have a picture of the Titor machine in front of me at the time to compare. The JEEP radio was made to look military issue. I've checked ebay occasionally and seen JEEP radios that were similar, and many that were wildly different, but I've never seen the one like I saw at the rummage sale. I suspect that one of these was what was used to build his "time machine".

I have a sneaking suspicion I know exactly what it is......and it's not what most people think. But I'll have to do a little checking on the net to be sure.

Re: The Higgs boson particle is sabotaging the LHC

It's extremely hard to find something that looks exactly like it.......but I suspect that Titor's 'time machine' is actually an early model of defibrillator. Even the cord for one of the pads is there.....and also, the yellow and black ( or red and white ) stripe pattern can be found on some defibrillator cases.

And guess which company is a prime manufacturer of defibrillators. General Electric.

Re: The Higgs boson particle is sabotaging the LHC

I checked with my brother who was a chief master sergeant in Airforce Security and he replied that parts of it looked similar to equipment he was familiar with, but thinks it might have been put together from parts.

That double dial combination sure looks familiar. Somehow I think I've seen that. But the case could have been a black steamer trunk that was retrofitted. The "Haber gang" of Celebration Florida, where the Titor thing originated, probably included some guys from an ad agency in town, so it might have been a group lark. I guess the artifact itself is a dead end.

If there were any justice in the world, a huge nun with stern visage would materialize next to me and give me a serious whack on the knuckles with a wooden ruler for perpetuating the Titor B.S. Mea cupla, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I doubt that, the idea is too much of a human action/perception. Why would this particle entertain such behaviour? How would this particle 'know' the difference between 'the big bang' and this experiment?
If this is plausible, then why wouldn't ole' Higgs boson revert 'the big bang'?

Thinking of the scale and complexity of the equipment being used, I'd think it's rather more plausible that there is bound to be a few kinks to be worked out of a 'prototype'

P.S.
Though I was wondering the other day if Microsoft Windows is so advanced, that a similar occurrence happens with their 'Alpha' releases on a side note metaphorically
