The Great American Solar Eclipse (8/21/2017)

I’ll be here in Central Texas. Don’t know if I missed em, but aren’t there also meteor showers occuring around this time of the year ?

I’m not sure but I hear that there could be after effects from this eclipse. Since we are over due for a Earthquake in the states…(Cascadia fault line.) Kind of like what happened in Japan. Seems we have a quake about every 250 years & we’re going on over 310 years now. I hope this doesn’t trigger it. Many people with be converging to view in areas of the totality.

I’ve never heard of this, but there’s real science behind it!

You learn something new every day.

I’m not sure whether anything like this is going to happen, but Oregon is going to get something like a million people coming and trying to get into the path of totality. It’s going to cause HUGE traffic problems; what’s usually a 60 minute drive from Portland to Salem will become a 6 or 8 hours.

Assuming it’s not too cloudy on Monday, we should be able to see 99.1% of the eclipse from our home in Vancouver, WA. I don’t think it’s worth braving the insanity this weekend and driving 12 to 18 hours in order to see see the additional 0.9% for 2 minutes…

I got my family some cool Bill Nye eclipse glasses too ;)

Those are kewl viewer glasses! I tried to make mine for the occasion out of a cereal box like on the you tube videos & it was an epic fail…Ha… I probably should just order a pair too.

Such an amazing sight. We were only able to see 99.1% of the eclipse from where we lived, but it was still incredible. Everything got very dark and very cold all at once. Epic.

It was cloudy in my neck of the woods & view was limited. Something that I’m glad to have been a part of. One for the memory books for sure.
