as for your question, no time travelers predicted it, but people did predict it.

its fairly easy to do, seeing as how these outbreaks are pretty predictable.

In fact your friendly neighbor goverments are pretty good at predicting out breaks. To them it is kinda of like predicting the weather. After it happens they can run computer simulations to see where the most infected or less infected areas will be. Predict how many will die and how many will live. And, when everything will settle down back to normal before something new comes along to kill mankind. They can even predict how often and how severe new outbreaks in future will be because we all live in a gigantic dish where things like this will grow and infect others. So, not that your friendly neighbor government will tell you anything but they know. A lot of what they learned was learned thru secret experiments on the public. Right now someone somewhere knows how many people this will kill and how all this will play out but do you see it on the news. Nope and you won,t see it either. Just the aftermath not the predictions.

EVERYONE knows that the swine flu pandemic was brought about by global warming! I mean, it is so obvious, isn't it? /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif Now I just need a government grant (a cool billion should do the trick) to turn this hunch into a scientific research study to "prove" it. I think I can cobble togther a few of the IPCC climate models with some of the CDC's vector contamination models and... viola! "Good science through modeling"!
