As an "aspiring" "hollywood" screen writer and TV producer, I would like to ANNOUNCE my support for the Writer Guild Strike in NY and Hollywood.
The writers are right:
They are not getting their fair share...
A writer may make 150K-250K from what I understand...
A creator or show owner makes HUNDREDS of MILLIONS on these shows.
The shows are nothing without the writing and the performances of the actors...
Furthermore, the are correct in regards to royalties:
o FORIEGN SALES of TV are NOW GLOBAL and not based on U.S. Demographics alone for TV and movies
o New Media Distribution on the INTERNET, PDAs, MOBILE PHONES, ON-DEMAND CABLE and SATELLITE ON DEMAND.
So I ANNOUNCE that I WILL NOT PUT FORTH ANYMORE "FILM TREATMENTS" or "MOVIE IDEAS" or "CASTING IDEAS" until the strike ends.
