something for everyone to ponder

Temporal Novice
you guys keep mention going forward in time by a few hours or so, but this could NEVER be possible, not even with how you explain it. its a lot simpler than you might think. the earth revolves around the sun, right? well, now that we have concluded that lets say this: the earth also rotates on its axis, right? well, this would mena the only way for you to not end up somewhere deep deep underground and in another continent altogether you would only be able to go back years at a time.

this also means that you can't return to the exact same spot that you left, too. that in turn means that to the casual observer it would NOT appear as though you never left. (john titor said something about that)

so, someone either say that this is all an elaborate hoax, or explain how this could possibly work like such. im not aware of anyone saying that the vehicle moves thousands of miles while it is traveling through time.

Why don't you read John Titor's explanation of how he said his time machine works (should be November 2000 posts) at http://www.johntitor.com There is a simple explanation why you can go back any interval of 1 second with his machine and still end up in the same exact place in relation to the surface of the Earth.

CoolSpot,

You're right - that would be a problem. One can suppose that if you really had a time travel device that you would also have pretty accurate 3D+1 coordinates for your arrival. That's a pretty straight forward problem if you've solved the real problem of actually building the thing.

Another problem that isn't so easily solved involves your angular and linear momentum. As you leave on your trip you will carry along your angular and linear momentum. If you plan to land on the Earth at some other time the Earth had best be in precisely the same place where you left it. Otherwise you will be striking the surface at some odd angle along with that angular and linear momentum. You might find yourself careening over the landscape at several hundred to several thousand meters per second. Ouch!
