Well, since none of us really know, I guess for the entertainment value we could refer to SGC-SG1 shows from the episodes. In Season 9 Episode 13, "Ripples in Time" there are many worldlines that are very similiar but all of them are just a little different in the linear time events but the events are so similiar that all of them are relatively the same. This is where a black hole interferes with the wormhole established by the stargate and caused by the first SG1 team that explodes a device near the black hole establishing a wormhole link to an alternate universe. The team comes through to what we know or establish is the real, known SGC and arrives a bit early. They are ahead in time and about all the bad guys (Gou'alds) are defeated so I guess they are bored. But to establish a wormhole to the Pegasus Galaxy and power the chair up in Anartica they need a ZPM or ZedPM if you are Canadian pronoucing it. This also has the effect of bending other wormholes from the Stargate from alternate Universes that are very similiar but just a little forward or backward in linear time but having the same relativity outcomes or futures. Of course the SGC is not going to become the Grand Central Station of the Multiverse so work is started on finding a solution to take those same SG1 teams back to their own Universe. Of course of the 50 teams that all are SG1 there, about 18 Carter's are working on the problem and the best scientists they have to offer for the 3.2 second time delay that was established in the first place by the first team exploding a device near the black hole distorting the Stargate's wormhole in the first place but not telling the General when arriving there, all in order to try and steal a ZPM from the alternate universe for defense of their own planet and universe. (all it is doing is sitting there and they need it more then the current - what we would call our normal universe - time line.
Then in another episode, around Season 1, "There But for the Grace of God" episode, Daniel Jackson runs in to the quantum mirror on another planet, PJX21 or some planet but none know what it is and Jackson touches the mirror part of the Naqudah mirror device and while the team is ready to leave back to earth because the planet has been decimated by the Gou'ald and it is not safe to remain there due to radiation, Jackson is transported by the quantum mirror to an alternate reality. It is ahead in time but also is like a warning of what may occur in their own future of the Gou'alds coming in spaceships "Beware the Destroyers" and the warning message coming from that planet that was not picked up at first in the first place about what happened to their Civilization on that planet with the Gou'alds destroying it. Things are not going well there, and a lot of people are already dead from being bombarded from the Destroyers and Earth is about done. Jackson makes it back through the wormhole convincing that worldline since they have no other options and they are about done to transfer him back through the stargate to the planet with the quantum mirror so he can save his Planet Earth and his Universe - a last good act the people in that universe can do. So he alerts his SGC in the next couple of episodes and they take it upon themselves to transport to the coordinates given by the alternate universe where a military base of the Gou'alds may be and trying to stop the Destroyers from coming to Earth in the first place from wherever the Gou'alds are at. All they have is an address and do not know what to expect. Well, they stargate to a ship that is in orbit while then the wormhole from the stargate can be established but as soon as the Destroyers (not known at the time by the team) leave orbit around the planet, the address is no good anymore and a wormhole can not be established then, since the stargate is on the spaceship Destroyers. While they enter hyperspace and at a much greater hyperspace window then previously known because the Destroyers have a new hyperspace drive they think they will arrive back to their own Earth in about a year. It takes much less time for the Destroyers to travel to Earth and both of them now are in proximity to the Earth and closing to start orbiting the Earth and destroying the Planet's cities and people and planet like what happened in the alternate universe. Of course the outcome is different this time because of the advanced warning of the similiar future of what may happened to this worldline and all is saved while in the alternate universe they had six months of knowing what was about to happen but could not stop the event and the Earth was lost to the Gou'alds in that Universe, but since the kindly act of helping out Jackson and him getting back to his own reality through the quantum mirror, our Earth was saved once again by SG1.
In another episode, the quantum mirror is sitting in Area 51, since it probably will be destroyed (should not know too much about alternate universes) and a different Kawoski and Carter come through it from an alternate time line and reality. Of course this timeline's SG1 team decide to help so the outcome in the alternate universe has a positive outcome and the Gou'alds are defeated but after that since the outcome would have been different if an alternate universe's SG1 team had not helped, General Hammond wants the quantum mirror destroyed, because they are only here in this Universe and on this Planet, and not in another Universe and on that Planet, making it somewhat ridiculous in trying to help out all the other alternate universes there may be out there since the immediate threats for this Universe and Timeline and this Planet are more important then helping out an alternate Universe and their Planet in which all Alternate Universes should have their own future and events and not all will probably be the same.
Now, what was the question? Sorry, can't answer the question for none of us have any idea about whether that is actually true or not, since we are not time-travellers.
