Teleportation will hit a great wall in the 23rd century when scientist realize that its not safe for intelligent beings. As you say, even now scientists are starting to ponder that the object being transported its only re-created after the first objects which was utterly disassembled and reduced to "a stream of atoms". In this sense, quantum teleportation will only work for inanimate matter, information and possibly food; which I think might be unnaturalized by the process.
However, scientist should look at Portals and Gates, much more safer and the object its not destroyed but actually spirited across timespace until it reaches the other end. I imagine we could build Kassimir like gates, teleport them far away and then through the twin gate that has been teleported move people across.
Nonetheless, I "predict" that by the 30th century there will be a teleportation-like system. I "predict" it will occur like this, an object its not decomposed into smaller fragments, but actually taken into an adjacent dimension (of which there are up to sixteenth) and from there re-inserted into this dimension once again. The process will be known as D-T (Dimensional Transposition).
I only wish you could see it, in my "prediction" of course.
