I predict:

There will be some reports (all unfounded) of UFO sightings near or off the West Coast of the USA between 7 and 9PM this very evening.

Don't ask me why I know this! /ttiforum/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Rainman,

Yep - we'll probably see such reports. I predict that we won't see any from Santa Barbara County (where the launch is initiated - VAFB, Lompoc, SB County, CA).

It was a flawless launch, from what a buddy of mine (who works for Boeing here in Huntington Beach) told me. I was out in front of my house watching for it, but we had some mid-level clouds that restricted the view. However, I was able to see one segment of the "glowing contrail" that always makes this such an awesome event.

I recall one time when I had associates from Lockheed-Martin, Fort Worth, TX in town and I took them to dinner at the Huntington Beach pier just as sunset was coming on (the time they prefer to conduct such launches for tracking purposes). As we sipped our margaritas on the strand, one in our party pointed out to the NW and said "what's that?". We were lucky enough to actually watch the launch vehicle leave its glowing trail as it climbed from VAFB south over the Pacific. We came to find out later that it was "one of theirs" (A TITAN IV). /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif
