I agree - it's not very empathetic (cause vs. reaction).
I once met a drunken woman at a very, very seedy bar.
She was to say the least, very intoxicated - and acting very rude sexually to the young waitress, and then I saw her lock onto me.
She made her way over, or rather stumbled and was about to put her hand upon my shoulder with a seductive look in her wretched eyes - when I simply said "grow up", and turned to continue watching the TV (sports).
I was quietly 'warned' by the gentleman next to me whom she was harrassing earlier as well, that she was a self proclaimed 'witch', and that I should be careful or else she'll give me 'the evil eye'.
I looked back to her, she looked at me again, and I shook my head. She locked onto target and made her way back to me.
She got right up in my face with a look of hatred taking her time to look me up and down and said
something to the effect;
"I see your future" after saying that she stood back dramatically; made a sign with her hand towards me and continued with
"I see very bad things in your future, very bad things".
I usually don't like stooping to other people's lvls but I saw it for what it was...
Using fear with the power of suggestion.
I thought I'd have a bit'o'fun this time (karma's a bitch);
made a triangle with my left hand (pinky tip to index tip - I have double jointed thumbs so it looks rather obscure when completed) raised it up and locked eyes for a moment asking if she knew what a warlock was with a grin. Then turned away and drank my beer and watched the rest of the sports as if she did not exist.
She must have stood there drunkenly for a good few solid mins not moving, it was the first time she'd shut up all night.
I get your points RMT.
Knowledge is one thing, wisdom yet another.
