Oregonian or Washingtonian?

Either way, we'll be Northwesterners next year :)

I've been quieter than usual the last week or so; we've decided to move to the Portland/Vancouver area once our lease is up so have been working out the logistics and discussing it as a family and figuring out details.

Bought the plane tickets last night, so now we're committed!

March 10, 2017 is the official date.

Wow, that's a big move! Congratulations! I hope it works out great for you guys. I've never been there, but I believe there are lots of trees and nature up there, as well as water. Definitely show us some pictures when you arrive and settle! Good luck!!!

I grew up in the Portland area and have always wanted to go back.

North Carolina has it's charms, but I've been here since 2009 and it's never once really felt like home. The allergies here kill us all, the humidity is no fun and there's just no sense of "place" here. Could just be me, but no sense in being somewhere I don't want to be.

Portland is beautiful:

We'll have the zoo and OMSI within 20 minutes, the beach and Mount Hood 90 minutes away, forests we can actually walk through without wading through underbrush and the culture there has a more progressive mindset which I want Edan to grow up in.

Oh yeah, mountains EVERYWHERE:

"Though much of downtown Portland is relatively flat, the foothills of the Tualatin Mountains, more commonly referred to locally as the "West Hills", pierce through the Northwest and Southwest reaches of the city. Council Crest Park, the tallest point within city limits, is located in the West Hills and rises to an elevation of 1,073 feet. The highest point east of the river is Mt. Tabor, an extinct volcanic cinder cone, which rises to 636 feet. Nearby Powell Butte and Rocky Butte rise to 614 feet and 612 feet, respectively. To the west of the Tualatin Mountains lies the Oregon Coast Range, and to the east lies the actively volcanic Cascade Range. On clear days Mt. Hood and Mt St. Helens dominate the horizon while Mt. Adams and Mt. Rainier can also be visible in the distance."

You didn't move yet?
Not yet! March 10 :) We're going to start shipping our stuff out in the next couple weeks, will have everything we CAN ship gone in January, everything we don't NEED gone in February and then the first week of March we'll be getting rid of whatever remains

I use these Apps to sell stuff at work:
Best: Offer Up, Let Go

Not as good: 5 Miles

The move sounds exciting. Yes, you'll have some stress, but it will all settle down eventually!

I guess you took John Titor's threat of nuclear war seriously --- avoid the east coast.... just kidding

Thanks! I'm going to check out Let Go later today :)

NC (and the Charlotte area in particular) has just never felt like home, despite having lived here since 2009. I've lived here longer than I've lived in any other place and I still don't like it. I don't know if it's the southern mentality or the fact that most of the transplants here are from New York... There's no sense of "place" here and the way people think here just isn't somewhere I want to raise Edan.

Portland/Vancouver isn't perfect, but every time I go back there it still feels like home. The people are nicer and the culture and everything else has a great vibe to it. Looking forward to revisiting my favorite old places with Edan :D OMSI, Mount Hood, the Oregon Zoo, Saturday Market, all the hiking trails... Fun!

There's no place like home. I wen t back to Wisconsin this summer and loved it. I felt at home. If we didn't have so many clients here, I'd definitely move back. Glad you are following your heart!

I agree with you, Paula. I am glad we are following our heart. I know that this will be a good move for our family. We have planned this out for a long time and now it is time to take that leap. (Leap for me anyways. Lol.)
