Seems to me that the latest oil rig problem BP is having would have been a MAJOR "I predict this will happen because I am from the future" claim. Seems this may be the biggest, most unique, easily memorable, unlikely single-sentence proof that a potential TT on this site could possible have.

Being that nobody claimed this prior, that makes me assume that nobody claiming to be a TT here actually is.

Not that i believe time travelers exist, but among all the different theory's of time travel isn't it possible that a time traveler in here may have come from a future where the oil spill in the gulf didn't happen?
 
If I take you back to March 23, 1989... can you predict what happens on the 24th?

What's big news to us might be trivia in the future.

I don't know if that's actually true. The media makes it seem to be the worst disaster in history but it isn't necessarily so. There have been other huge oil spills from rigs. Santa Barbara had a huge spill in 1969. Who, other than people in Santa Barbara, remembers it?

In WWII the US alone had over 600 merchant vessels sunk. Sure, people remember WWII but does anyone recall that the world was "destroyed" by a billion barrel oceanic oil spill that started in 1939 and continued daily for the next six years? No.

The media will completely forget this oil spill by the middle of next week. The news will be entirely Greece and the NYSE losing +1000 pts. So it's probably not realistic to assume that a time traveler would recall a one week news flurry that the news media itself forgot about several days later.

dd, I would not remember that exxon dumped oil in 1989, but I also assume that the DeepHorizon thing will be bigger.

Drby, yeah, maybe you are right, but again, I feel this thing won't go away that easily. Seems between the volcano in Iceland, war in middle east and oil covering the gulf, that the following verse from the bible is plausible for the first time. "Elements" being earth, air, water, fire.

yeah, I know. I bought 9 ounces of Au 18 months ago when it was $844-900.

I remember seeing some posts here a few yrs ago of people stating to be TT that came back in time to place some money into Euros. Not looking so good for the Euro right now, but who knows where the future willl take us.
