Now coming to the key points of John Titor story that still holds people reading it.


1. John Titor talked about artificial micro singularities produced at CERN. This was discussed in 2003.

3. then he talked about civil war. But clearly there was no war, but there has been disagreements regarding the war in Iraq in the United states. Since 2004/2005, the dollar has seen a decline when compared with other currencies.

John Titor talked about his mission was about the hidden emulator in IBM 5100 which was used to emulate the entire s/360 instruction set, which formed the basis of computer software in the early days. So that getting that basic instruction set would provide a solution for the 2038 bug. He also claimed to have averted y2k in our worldline. But the fact that IBM 5100 had a hidden emulator was confirmed by Bob Dubke. But this is something easy for a hoaxer, so i dodnt provide any link.



Let this be a civil discussion. Can someone make a guess like this that comes to be co incidence? I am wondering about this.
 
i myself think that it would be fairly easy to create a hoax bigger than titors. call me cocky... :oops:

all people really want is evidence, wich is easy to "make." and anything that isnt easy to make, divergence accounts for
 
She seems to be the most likely candidate to be chosen to lead the party, but I don't think she can be elected by the people who normally vote.

They turned on the LHC and it exploded. That's all I've heard them do so far.

The dow is breaking records but people still complain... USD only seems low because the Canadian dollar is doing so awsome, and it's only doing awsome because the US is buying so much energy from canada. ;-)

The original story, he wanted the 5100 because of it's ability to "translate" between APL and BASIC and it could not do that. There was a big toggle switch to move between APL mode and BASIC mode.

If anyone wants their APL code converted to BASIC or BASIC to APL, post it in this thread and I will convert it for you. ;-)

Yes i dont beleive she will be elected too. But he didnt directly say she is the next president.

The President in 2009 was interested only in keeping his/her power base.

This means he is telling something that the 2008 election has got something to do with a female, but for the 2004 elections he didnt make any such references.


But was it in 2001 when he made postings it seemed like she will be the one chosen to lead the party?

As for the dollar the introduction of Euro could also be a reason, but pretty much i see it coming down since 2005 and it is very much declined when compared with 2000.

How do you know that is what it means? Don't you mean it is your opinion that this is what it means?

It is my opinion that the hoaxer had no clue who would win, but they knew (as anyone would have back then) that Hillary wanted the "big job". Hence, the hoaxer gave this non-answer which covers all bases (even a hermaphrodite who became president would even fit this "prediction"!) :eek:.

Anyone with half a brain knew that Hillary wanted to be president all the way back at the time she was stumping for her hubby before he was even elected. How many people remember her touting the "benefit" of getting "two for one" when you voted for Bill? She ran for Senate, and won, in one of the most overwhelmingly Democratic states in the nation. Calculated? You bet. To claim that it was some kind of prescient prediction that the president in 2008 MIGHT be a woman (or not!) can hardly be used as any form of evidence, either for or against, the reality of Titor. It is a non-player.

Why in 2038 would they need IBM 5100 computer any way?
There are all sorts of software emulators out there for various
old machines (computers) and PDA’s so it should not be a
stretch for them to do that without an IBM 5100 if they want to.
There is also a lot of software code converter out there and it should not
be too hard to convert between APL and Basic or the other way round.

I just think there problem was just a stretch of the imagination.
But what I think boqz is that it just makes their life easer by
having a physical reference with something to verify with.

With all that time traveler stuff I wonder if IBM 5100 is still
functional after transit. An EM bust will blow everything just
as if there was a nuclear bomb.

The data in the IBM 5100 was stored in in its ROM. Any time traveler from the future wouldnt be inerested in the hardware part of a machine for debugging software, and it cannot be thought of any use of the toggle switch. If i felt 5100 would be of any use in debugging Y2K bug in 1998, then i would go to 1975, remove its storage, and bring it to my timeline, instead of carrying the entire heavy machine. Then i would find a way to decode the instructions from its storage and try to build an emulator. I doubt this was what john claimed when he claimed he went to 1998, before coming to 2000, he collects the emulator in 2000 on CDs, and takes it to 2036. Any one interested in an old computer claiming to debug a software problem would be interested in its software only. The processor and other components would be of no use in the future.

But the only doubt i have is as you said about the EM burst, could infact affect the ROM chips i.e the storage medium that stored software in it. But i guess they weren't stored on magnetic tapes.

Titor: Good question! I would say the biggest difference is in the reliability of the hardware and software. It absolutely amazes me how willing people are here to accept computer and software failures on such a regular basis. I was very surprised to see how prolific it is. You can look forward to very stringent manufacturing parameters and programming discipline. Think back to the early days of the computer and how much work and cleverness it took to fit those programs into such small areas of memory. Has more and cheaper memory brought better programs or just more programs?

An EMP will destroy electronics as well I think.
