New presidential memo

It was rumored today, that a new self disclosure and anti threat law, was signed in by said President Bush.

This memo simply says, that bedsides internet stalking being placed as a felony, that you must disclose your identity, if you threaten someone on the internet.

So this memo would cover posters here, who say posted under certain past ideates, but refuse to disclose the content of what they were doing, or posted, within that period of time.

Dan,

No. All HR 3402 does is close some loopholes in the law.

TT 47, 223 U.S. Code (part of the Federal Communucations Act) originally covered harassing telephone calls and stalking (indluding through the telephone). It didn't specifically cover the same acts if performed via email and other online forms of communucation. It also added some language to cover "dating" situations where the victim isn't the spouse or ex-spouse of the harasser/stalker. That was a big loophole in the Federal law.

It now brings the law into the 21st Century by adding a few words to cover online activities.

The law, itself, wasn't changed substantially from what it has been for a long time.

BTW: Its not a rumor. This bill passed through both houses of Congress and was signed into law by the President.
