NE1else read about that discovery at the North Pol

I heard about these scientist who believe they discovered a way of time travel when they launched a weather balloon up there and it disapeared , they pulled it back on a string and the Chronometer read 1967 or some date in that era.

((I don't know of any device that could measure what year you are in just by being there. ))

supposedly it was just a clock on the unit, and the date came back dated 30 years in the past.

Re: NE1else read about that discovery at the North

well if the clock changed when it went back in time, wouldnt it change back to 2004 when it came back. it only makes sense. this story is b.s.

Not only that, but why would it change in the first place? If I don't wind my watch, it stops and says the wrong time. If I set a clock wrong, it's wrong. Clocks don't magically pick up what time it is out of the ether, they simply count seconds, and they'll say whatever you tell them to say, regardless of whether it's right or not.

So, if we were to assume that this story was true and that some peice of equipment that had a clock on it that could tell the year for some reason did, in fact, go up into the atmosphere and came down with a different year showing, then isn't it the most logical think to assume that some form of electromagnetic atmospheric disturbence interfered with the clock's electronics and changed the time it was set to? Once, a Friend and I were watching Friday The 13th Part III on a Sunday. About a third of the way through the film a subtitle came up saying "You should have gone to church", and it stayed there for the rest of the film. Now, were we really being sent a message from the Creator? Or was it simply an electronic glitch which randomly threw up a subtitle from Songs Of Praise?

I know which one I think the more likely.

Actually a chronometer is supposed to do what you guys are talking about. I dont know alot about it, but I now that what its supposed to do. it picks up chrono radiaiton(I think). it also is supposed to say the same date when it picks up chrono radiation. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: NE1else read about that discovery at the North

why wasnt this on tv or radio. a discovery this big (if it were real) would be all over the news.

Re: NE1else read about that discovery at the North

anyone have any ideas what could cause this to happen to a chronometer?

a discovery this big (if it were real) would be all over the news

are you sure? i'm sure there are a lot of big discoveries such as this would be kept quiet.

Re: NE1else read about that discovery at the North

Perhaps even though the chronometer may have been up in the air in this dimension for only a few minutes or so, the actual time it spent on the other end could have been a longer stretch of time. perhaps years in itself. and thank you Timetravel000 for the support.

Re: NE1else read about that discovery at the North

I'd have to call BS on this one. If you read the story, weather balloons are not tied down with a rope and you can just pull down whenever you feel like it.

Re: NE1else read about that discovery at the North

I heard this story and the original threadmaker didn't get the facts straight. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact details.
