Multiverses

TimeTraveler23

Chrono Cadet
This is a sight for anyone who knows anything about multiverses. I am creating a website dealing with all this and time travel and in July I will post the sight when I am done. So, if you have any information on this tipic please post it.

TT23,

There are several theories of quantum mechanics that generally fall under the "Many Worlds Interpretation" umbrella.

Rather than have people point out websites why don't you do some research on your own and then decide what you want to include.

Google the following:

"Everett Relative State Formalism"

"Relative State Formalism" (of quantum mechanics) was the title of Hugh Everett's PhD dissertation. John Wheeler was his graduate advisor/PhD sponsor. That is the basis of "Many Worlds Interpretation" or "multiverses."

If you spend some time doing the research you might find yourself a bit disappointed, however. Everett wasn't talking about the sci-fi "parallel worlds" idea. John Wheeler has called "Many Worlds" an unfortunate choice of words because it is misleading and has caused a lot of confusion.

But you need to do the research rather than taking my word or someone else's word on this. You need to "hear" it from the horses' mouths, so to speak. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You should also Google the same terms on Google, Groups, Science, Physics, Research (SPR). You'll see UseNet posts from working physicists on the subject.

TT23,

Just a short follow up:

As you research Many Worlds Interpretation (MWI) you'll run across The Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics (Niels Bohr) and The Bohmian Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics (David Bohm).

If you get into Bohmian Interpretation you might as well get a copy of "The Theory of Special Relativity" by David Bohm. You should have some background knowledge on Special Relativity and Bohm's book is wonderful. Not too much math and most of the math is basic algebra.

Also get a copy of Einstein's "Relativity: The Special and General Theories." It is a popular science paperback written by Einstein himself and is intended for the general public.

Both books are available on Amazon.com and Border's Bookstore.

You need to have some knowledge of the background that leads to quantum mechanics. And learning is fun in any case. Niels Bohr, Albert Einstein and David Bohm plus a few more physicists are the true "fathers" of modern physics. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is time travel physically, mechanically, and scientifically feasible? Does anyone know? “Things are only impossible until they’re not,”-Jean-Luc Picard. Before man was able to make electric light, it was thought of as impossible. Before man was able to fly, it was thought of as impossible.

Before man was able to enter the moon’s atmosphere, it was thought of as impossible. Therefore, everyone thinks that time travel is impossible; however, there is still the likelihood that it is probable. Time travel is defiantly achievable under certain circumstances.

This sight will prove the possibility of time travel and provide links to future time thinkers on books, movies, and paradoxes pertaining to time travel. If there is any doubt in your mind that time travel is not possible, after looking at this sight, you will change your mind! /ttiforum/images/graemlins/cry.gif :D /ttiforum/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/smile.gif  /ttiforum/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/kiss.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/ooo.gif  /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif

Well, before "Crisis on Infinite Earths," there was a multiverse. The Golden Age characters of DC lived on what was called Earth 2 (ironic, seeing as how they came first) whereas the Silver Age characters re-envisioned by Julius Schwartz lived on the more contemporary Earth-1. The Marvel Family had Earth-S, the Freedom Fighters on Earth-X, and the Crime Syndicate terrorized Earth-3.

Captain Carrot and his Zoo Crew supposedly occupied Earth-C, but no one takes that seriously.

(Who's had enough Einstein/Rosen/Podowski bridge thinking writing a "Time Hunter" novella to last him a lifetime.)

The Moon does not have an atmosphere!
It does not!
There is not enough gravity on the moon to hold an atmosphere!
You would only weigh 1/6 of what you weigh on this Planet -- Planet Earth!
You step on the moon and go off like a rocket, bouncing along, as the astronauts showed!

i think your web"site" will be done, its not called a websight. i don't really think you have any idea what you are talking about. and I dont think there are multiverses, you've been watching too much TV. there is absolutely positively no proof of infinite worlds, and, besides, whats wrong with this universe that we would need an infinite amount of others to make ourselves feel better about ourselves?

so Again i think you should quite SPAMMING the board, and if your serious about learning, the information is out there. or you can be polite, come up with an actual question not just a random thought that pops into your head and post it in an organized manner.
