Mobile phone in 1928?

The images are not 100% clear, but it certainly seems that the woman is using a mobile phone! Thoughts?

An old woman using mobile phone in a short clip from the DVD extras of Charlie Chaplin's film The Circus, 1928, spotted only in 2010 by filmmaker George Clark

This video is really interesting but this sounds me a bit fake. I mean if it's really the truth why this didn't get famous? Why this didn't aroused any attention by the most valuable scientest in the world? This would be a revolutionary video if it's real. Eventually how we are sure that what that woman was holding is a mobile phone?

I don't think this video serves your statement justice since it can easily be fake. I'm positive some things happened in that era but I'm not quite sure this is good evidence.

Still, not a bad thought. I'm really curious to find more information since people are saying mobile phones were present among those years.

Oh, absolutely. That's a cel phone. I mean, everyone on the planet knows for a fact that in 1928 there were cel towers all across the planet. I mean, everyone who was anyone had a mobile phone in 1928. The guy in the photo is texting Charles Lindberg in the Spirit of St. Louis wondering why he doesn't kick it into Mach 2.5 to get to Paris and back in time for dinner in Chicago.Did you just fall off the turnip wagon or did you not know that the photo has been kicked around the web for years? " It certainly seems that the woman is using a mobile phone" my aching ass.

Bit spurious, I think. Looking at the article @AgiTitor linked, a hearing aid seems like a more likely explanation for this. I’ve seen ear trumpets but not the early electronic models, so thanks for that link. Pretty fascinating stuff.

Why assume they are 'cell' phones? Wouldn't satellite phones be more appropriate for a time traveler communication network? During that time period, and earlier, don't know if anyone would notice orbiting satellites.

Not sure what that is, could be a tape recorder but I just know if it was a cell phone why wouldn't the person be more careful with using it? Why dress up to blend in but you are still talking on a cell phone? Wouldn't someone in that time notice?

LOL, so it seems fake uh? Again, I don't know why people make these comments, eventually they just want to attract attention and traffic to their sites or videos.

I liked it because it was someones attempt to use fiction to explain fiction. I think that's perfectly legal.

Those phones appear to be a walkie talkie one or, something else that looks like it and in those days mobile did not exist so would of used something else the first clip appears to be made up if it has been on the web for a long time. The object looks like a mobile, but is not as the technology was not advanced like today and the eyes can be deceived by this video very easily when looking at it at first glance. I, reckon it can look like a cellphone but it is not one as the other people don't seemed surprised or bothered by the phone which is interesting and would think the people would be more interested in the phone if it was one.

Well... That is fairly common these days, reality is hidden and we are presented with entertainment so that we don't think about the real world and the situation we are living in.
