Hi everyone, this is my first time to the board and to the interesting world of time travel. Last night I saw the X-Files, now I know this show is not real and all that, however I was absolutely fascinated with the thought of living the same day over and over untill something got made right. If you didn't see it, the main character, Mulder, had to live the same day over and over, untill the bank didn't blow up... ANYWAY... what I'm getting at is does anyone think that's possible? I mean it's a little bit different than time travel, or is it? If you lived the same day over and over, I think it'd have to be something catastrophic, but could it happen? I mean it's fascinating. I have a lot of personal religious beliefs concerning "ghosts" and "aliens" (meaning I don't believe in them, because I feel it's something different) but this time travel, I find enamoring, can't really explain it with anything logical or unlogical. I don't know if anyone will post, but basically I just wanted to know what everyone's take on living the same day over and over is?? thanks! hope I'll get a reply.

PS my dad said that time travel isn't possible but, it is possible to come to a stand still. Like if you revolved around the earth fast enough, time could stand still, you could leave at 6 pm, then be up in space for a year rotating and come back and on the earth it'd only be maybe 7 pm. I think he had some scientific backups to this, just wondering what you all thought about that also. Thanks again.

I don\'t think the over and over thing would happen...

For a day to happen over and over again, that would mean that there is some external source controlling time. And if time travel were possible, the variations wouldn't exist. The same exact things would happen again without any changes. In other words, Mulder wouldn't have those thoughts of vaguely remembering the woman and that women definitely wouldn't be remembering the whole episode.

As far as time travel, I cannot get past the idea that if it is possible then it's already happened. Also, if it's possible, we are not the present. We are merely a nano-second away from another world with another present. And just how many seconds separate each time in the dimension?
