Let's suppose that you would need to go back in time to warn somebody of a great danger of some sort. Let's suppose furthermore that you manage to go back in time in the 50s. How would you proceed?
 
If you were able to travel back in space and time to the 50's, the way to proceed to warn somebody of a great danger would be to simply warn that person of the great danger ;) Either explain to that person you have travelled back in time to warn them, or tell them you have a premonition of great danger.
 
I thought that the person to be warned lives in our time. You see I've been wondering about the impact the news could have on someone's live.
Let's say I manage through a time slip like those reported in Liverpool, to get few minutes in the 50s.
If I had a ready letter and if I could convince a guy passing by to buy me a stamp and send it over, where do you send that letter if the person to be contacted is not even born yet?
Do you send that warning to that person's old relatives? Will it be taken seriously?
What if that letter impacts on people's behaviours and it prevents the very birth of that person?
You see what I mean?....

The narrative of your hypothetical scenario is a bit confusing. If I have understood correctly, you are asking how to warn somebody of an impending danger. In your 2nd post, it seems as if the person to warn is not yet born. Am I correct? If I am correct, then why not just travel back to a time when the said person is alive?
 
Yes you are correct.
It seems difficult to choose the time where you're going to travel if we talk about time slip. If you have the option to choose then of course you will just need to travel only few months before the event you want to prevent. But if you don't have that possibility then it gets tricky....

Yes indeed. The reported phenomenon of time-slips is an unpredictable occurence. But why would you want to travel back in a time-slip? Why not some kind of time-machine (hypothetically speaking of course).
 
Well time machines seem somewhat outta reach for an average joe .
I mean, while time slips in a sense seem like more accessible... well even though one might go to the right place for a life time and never actually find anything.
 
Time slips sound kind of exciting. Scope for lots of mischief there. The thing to do if you are a generation too early is to place letter with a firm of solicitors to be posted at a much later date... or hang around till the person is born...who says it might not be a one-way trip anyway?
 
Yes a firm might be a great solution I reckon providing you can stay long enough to find one...

Oh yes I have just been reading up on it. Short duration. In the nature of uncontrollable subjective visions mostly, little if any interaction with people reported. Would be very difficult to prepare for beforehand...
 
True. I'm looking into other time slip "spots" but so far that one is the closest i've found... Well there is been reports of strange happenings in a french town called Marseille, one avenue in particular but there too the reports are of very short travels in the middle ages supposingly... Even trickier then. But I keep looking'....

I find the 1996 account of Frank the policeman quite intriguing. Like you say, there was no interaction with the people of 50's/60's Liverpool in this timeslip. However, Frank and a young woman of 1996, who unwittingly "accompanied" him on the time-slip were able to interact during the "time-slip".

This next account I also find interesting: (I have copied and pasted the full account)

"The third tale is of a young man named Sean, who, while shop lifting in Liverpool back in 2006, ran away from a Security Guard and headed down Hanover Street. Trying to shake of the Guard, Sean, 19, turned into a dead end street called Brookes Alley. By this time he was out of breath and started to get a tight sensation in his chest. He soon realised that actually it wasn't a problem with him, but the atmosphere around him.
He waited for the Guard to come around the corner after him, but he never appeared. So, thinking he had given him the slip, he sauntered back out and started to walk down Hanover street again. But he soon realised that something was wrong.
The road looked different, and so did the pavement. He noticed cars driving by that looked very old fashioned, and the road works that he knew were there, were now gone. Soon he saw that the people around him were wearing strange clothes. Crossing over to Bold Street, he noticed that there were traffic lights where there weren't before, and bushes growing around the Lyceum, near a bar that he recognised.
He carried on walking, realising that actually something was really odd. Then he began to panic. He realised that somehow he had stepped back in Time. And the timeslip was not going away.
Then he remember his Cell phone. Taking it out of his pocket, he tried to get a signal, but of course it didn't work. Eventually he began to really panic, but spotted a kiosk selling newspapers and headed over.
Leaning over the Stand, he took a look at the front page of the Daily Post. There in bold lettering was the date. 18th May 1967.
He wondered what to do. What happens if he can't get back to his own time? What about family and friends?
So, speeding up his pace, he reached H. Samuel the Jewelers, and tried his phone once again. This time it worked. Sighing with relief he looked around and realised that he had returned to the present. But the strange thing was, he could still see, down the end of the road, people still walking around in 1967.
By this time Sean had seen enough, and dived onto a bus to go home. When he was interviewed by the local newspaper later, he stated over four times, the exact account.
Now, you may think that Sean was making the story up to escape from the guard. But the strange tale didn't end there. When the Security Guard was interviewed, he stated that when he ran after Sean, and turned down the dead end Alley after him, he said that Sean had completely disappeared!
When the newspaper checked out the facts of Seans story, they found that everything he said was historically accurate."
 
Yes i have found those reports very interesting as well. The shop lifter story seems to last a while longer than the others, also there is that story of a girl trying to buy baby clothes for her sister's kid, apparently she interacted with the people from the past, same with the woman sitting on the bench in a park.
 
There seems to be many time-slip accounts around that particular area of Liverpool. The mothercare shop account is also interesting, like you say, as interaction occurred. But when you examine that story closely there are holes in the account.

Here is a link to an authentically reported account of a time-slip. This is the oldest report I have come across, to date. It was reported in an Australian newspaper in 1946. What is being described is similar to other reported accounts of the so-called-phenomenon, known as time-slips.

Interesting one too. The internet is a double edged sword. In one hand you have access to a lot of informations, and you can interact with people sharing same interests and that really great, the other flip of the coin is that you have to keep all your BS filters on, and to some extents one might dismiss a legitimate information for the sake of staying objective so to speak. It's really not an easy task, to search for valid info, being objective while staying open minded.

For example, when i found that photo on the net about that commemoration in canada where a time traveller was supposingly spotted I was very excited about the find. Then more checking showed that actually that guy on the picture while a bit off from the rest of the crowd was actually dress in the fashion of the picture time period.
 
Yes of course. The internet is an environment of recycled mis-information. It is up to the individual to undertake thorough research to verify facts etc.
