John's mission to 1975 a failure?

In the process of attempting data recovery on an old iMac (UNIX), I discovered that the 2 digit year Y2K issue for UNIX date was in fact not corrected.

For example, on OSX El Capitan pre 2020 build, the date must be modified in terminal BASH to pre 2014, but in the newest OSX El Capitan build, the System date needs to be set to current date in order to proceed with installation authentication.

The date is still entered in 2 digit format, there is no 4 digit option.

There is no way to distinguish between 1975 & 2075.

My understanding was that the current fix was to implement 64 bit processing via the Intel Core 2 Duo onward X86 CPU line to extend the 32 bit EPOCH timeout from 1970 - 2038 beyond 2038.

Why didn't John extend the UNIX date entry code to 4 digit year?

On an off note; someone at SK HYNIX is playing games with us, and possibly aware of our circumstances. TimeTec......
