John Titor? WHO?

OK, people lets just get one thing straight...There is NO John Titor...There is NO Time Travel...There is just the here and now. Think about it. This John Titor was created to do exactly what it was supposed to do...Create a sci-fi fantasy for people like you to believe in, while the person who created this story, sits back at their computer, laughing and being amused about how you all have put your hopes of someone truely being from the future. But I DO guarantee this, as the John Titor fantasy begins to die down and people start to forget who he was...He will be back, because he realizes that the people are starting to forget about him, so he makes his so-called TIME TRAVEL back to our time, and says, "Here I am...I am back. And boy do I have a story to tell you." And when that happens, holy cow, you will all run back here and start the fantasy all over again. Your the fish, the fantasy was the worm, and you all just got hooked...If you believe in John Titor and his TIME TRAVEL, then I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell, if any of you are interested...I will even throw in the Golden Gate Bridge for free...But its only a limited time offer, so hurry! hurry! hurry! operators are standing by. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif
 
How can you tell that your whole life is not a dream? Or that you are the only 'thing' that exists and your whole 'reality' is an illusion? What is the reason for life at all? What is life? Is there a God/sentient authority for all the facts of reality? A creator?

If a tree falls in a wood and there is no-one around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Nothing is certain my friend, Philosophers will struggle with the big questions of existence itself forever - what ever 'forever' means. We cannot explain everything of what we obseve in this confusing universe - time travel? Why not?

Is Titor for real? What is 'real'? Who knows? Religions are formed from dogma and blind faith - so is blind scepticism. An open mind will keep you from bigotry and prejudice, it will save you from insanity.

I generally agree with your position but I'd make one small but significant correction. Group Titor isn't sitting back at their computers laughing. They are attempting to laugh all the way to the bank.

They didn't form a company (the John Titor Foundation, LLC), hire a well known entertainment lawyer (Larry Haber) to represent their financial interests, write a book, sell t-shirts and coffee mugs, produce a demo tape for a proposed syndicated radio program, produce a demo for a comic book based on Titor's story and have a screen play written, produced and set for distribution just for grins. Nor did they choose to house their business in a graphic arts studio/film production studio/sound studio at random.

It was also not a random event that all of this activity is taking place in Celebration, Florida, that this site was featured on the Celebration, Florida community BBS when Titor started posting and that our SysOp/owner was the SysAdmin of both of those sites when Titor first started posting. Titor/TTO is from Celebration, Florida and picked up the connection to this site from the community BBS.
 
Right. They are racking in the $$$$$. The movie, the book, the action figures......cover of Time Magazine.... all the way to the bank.

I don't know if they have actually made any significant money off of any of this. That's why I hedged the issue when I added "attempting" to the statement.

Frankly, I think that Haber and Group Titor waited too long to make their push out into the entertainment world. I guess that only time will tell if they are successful financially. In the longer run, however, I think that the writers and other creative people involved have likely sealed their deal career wise. All in all they have succeeded in making a publicity splash. Enough people who matter (professionally) are "in the know" to assure at least a shot in the entertainment industry for the key players.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I suspect you don't either.
 
I believe what Darby is saying is that scientifically, the Titor story holds no water so the Titor story itself holds no water, as in, it was a fabrication made by people who live/work for Disney who did it to develop a time travelling property. If this is the case, the time for them to have come out with a Titor property was years ago, not today.

Well, that's apparently your issue to deal with. But for others who might have a better clue...

Making a creative effort and catching the eye of a person in the industry who matters (Larry Haber) can make a difference in one's career.

I don't know, and have no particular reason to believe, that Group Titor has any connection with Disney. But in a more general sense you're correct. A group of creative individuals decided to use the Internet as a playing field to expand their craft....to extend what the young talents who created The Blair Witch story did both on the Internet and with TV per-release advertising.

Frankly, they haven't been unsuccessful in that endeavor. They have used the new medium successfully. The pay-off will be whether or not they either make any money directly from the Titor Saga or indirectly as a spin-off from the success of the strategy.

The whole thing would still be a mystery today had they not chosen to use Haber and housed their company in Celebration, Florida. It was only by accident, really, that I made the connection between TTI, Celebration, the Celebration BBS and Haber. The Internet links no longer exist but a couple of years ago this site and www.34747 were linked. If I hadn't made the connection then it would have disappeared shortly thereafter and we would not have had any clues left to make the connection. True, it would have still been a curious decision for the JTF to choose an entertainment lawyer to represent them but there would have been no reason to suspect that Celebration, Florida played any particular role in the story.
