I remembered the future

Ok, so if I heard this story from someone else I’d think that they were crazy, lying, full of BS, or some combination of all three but it happened to me and it’s all true (I know a big red flag but feel free to continue). This happened over twenty years ago ‘94 or ‘95, I was set up for a day of blockbuster bingefest, I had rented several movies and the sega genesis game Master of Monsters (I had two TVs set up, one to watch and one to play on, sad but true… and FUN!). As I progressed through the game I came upon a new level, one I had I never seen before(I had rented the game couple of times) yet the second I saw it I had a very clear memory of playing that stage. I remembered that I had played that stage and that when I flew my mono-p to a particular spot it caused the game to glitch, freezing the AI’s heroes making for an easy win instead of an impossible one. So I’m sitting there staring at the game thinking to myself, “How the hell am I remembering a stage that I’ve never played before?”. And I want to make it clear that it was a memory, crystal clear and stronger than anything I’ve had before or since. It wasn’t that I had some instinctual knowledge of the glitch, the program playing on the TV was different, the lighting of the room was different, other small subtle differences, where things were on the table, floor, etc. So I thought what the heck, I’ll try it and sure enough once I got the mono-p, the game glitched. I thought it was weird as all hell but I kinda laughed it off as just one of those things that happened and was happy enough for the easy win. So time goes by, I really don’t know if it was a few weeks or months later but I was at blockbuster and saw that they were selling their copy of Master of Monsters so I picked it up along with a few movies for another bingefest. So I’m playing the game, I come to the glitch stage, and I realize that this is it. This is moment I was remembering, the lighting, the TV program, everything. It was a bizarre, intense feeling, everything felt...more. Hard to describe and I thought “I finally caught up with myself.”

All written down it doesn’t seem like enough to hang your hat on, still it’s true. Now I could go on a rant about the possible hows, whys, and what ifs but that would all be conjecture and I simply don’t want to do that. I simply wanted to tell my tale and put it out there because...see a couple weeks ago I wanted to go on the internet and take a look around at time travel but it was late, I was tired and chose to sleep instead. When I awoke I knew I had made a mistake. I missed something, an opportunity, and now a series of events are not going to happen. So I’ll throw this out there, hope that if I make enough left turns I’ll end back up on the right track. (pun intended)

Interesting. Sounds pretty much as a deja vu but with a longer time interval. When I have a deja vu, the feeling as I am approaching THE moment that somehow I know is going to happen, is usually "hmmm I think I already know what is going to happen next", and I actually do. But it's only the knowledge that something will happen, and not a memory of it. In your case is like an inverted deja vu, you had your deja vu moment before having the real one. As you told it, feels like the second time you played the game is the original memory, and somehow you had that memory available before living it.

I have had experiences like this. Dreams of insignificant events that later come true, knowing that an outcome was certain before the event occurs, almost to the the point of prophetic wisdom. These are never within my control, and never give me any direction in life. Perhaps the mind is a better predictive system than we give it credit, or perhaps reality has hidden qualities that we're not aware of yet. Time will tell.

I had to look up NDE and OBE, nope not a Near Death Experience or Out of Body Experience. I was just playing a game both times, nothing life threatening about that... except for sitting on my butt too much.  I wasn't outside myself watching me playing the game, the perspective was my own.  Still thanks for the feedback.

There is a such thing as precognitive dreams, a subconscious recognition of the supernatural's reminding us that there is more than meets the eye-- a force awaiting one's calling upon something greater than himself whereupon he is equal to whatever lies ahead of him.

Some members here have suggested lucid dreaming dangerous, which I reckon a matter of personal intent. My use for such things is as innocent as harmless in that I've trained myself mainly to evade nightmares and/or heighten my creativity, e.g. when in a dark place,

I find and follow a light that, for my love of architecture, allows not only escape but delightful exploration.

Lucid dreams are not dangerous only our brain creates nightmare.

Oh, thank you. I haven't been invited to drop dead in a while...
It must have something to do with my presuming you nodded your consent to become a test subject-- You know what they say, "All's well that ends well."

It seems like your post and my response in "How to build a time machine" would've been just as fitting here for, therein, we both stated that no offense was intended by either of us. Yet, as both your avatar and you seem to be looking askance, I feel like I'm in an old 'Western' movie-- have you ever seen such a movie?

Typically, they have gunslingers look sideways, suspiciously, at one another. Each one of them warily looks ready to draw his weapon whereupon the other makes any sudden movement. Sometimes, they reach a verbal understanding and share drinks afterward and, other times, either one gets 'itchy fingers' and immediately reaches for his pistol or they agree to take their contest outside, i.e. they face off in the street.

So, with it's being a weekend night and all, this is my cue to leave you with a peace offering:
