John Thomas
Temporal Navigator
So this review contains spoilers. If you haven't seen the film, be warned.
The fictional premise is that two time-lines can exist and influence each other simultaneously.
There is one time-line where Joe lives to be an old man and another time-line where Joe doesn't. And both are real and intersecting.
The time-line of Old Joe interferes with the time-line of Young Joe.
In the end, Young Joe's time-line wins.
Though Old Joe's time-line disappears, it only disappears at a certain point at the end of the film. All the influences of Old Joe's time-line on Young Joe's time-line remain.
This isn't quite the multiple-worlds theory working here but it could be.
If either Young Joe or Old Joe die, then one Joe should not erase the other Joe if the 2 time-lines are truly separate. But if they are connected, I can see how this story would actually make logical sense.
