Humans - Bad Backs Due to Evolution

Let's face it. Backs suck. It seems that we develop back problems way too early and much more frequently than other animals. Some people believe that this is because we are evolving. Humans basically just learned to stand up straight and our backs haven't caught up, yet.

According to Nick Collins, "Our spines were originally arch-shaped, but standing upright turned the backbone into a weight-bearing pillar, causing the development of the "S" shaped curves which help us balance and walk but also cause lower back pain."

See? Design flaw or are we simply still evolving?

According to Ancient Aliens and ancient astronaut theorists, our backs developed to the way they currently are because ETs made us as such, and hence they are doing experiments on us.

I vote to fire them, then. This hurts!

But think about it, if we are still evolving, it could explain a lot.

Could be DE-evolving. We do less work than many of our ancestors. They had to do many things themselves. These days we have equipment to do the work for us. And posture while sitting at a desk...

But it's very possible that (at least some) people in ancient times had the help of equipment to do the work for them. A lot of history has been rewritten and misinterpreted, and also mainstream history only uses evidence that fits its agenda. It's pretty arrogant to assume that the technology of today is the pinnacle of civilization, yes, even here on Earth.

I don't believe you are saying that I was being 'pretty arrogant', are you?

I agree that there probably were ancient civilizations that used technology that has been lost. Like that which was found at Puma Punku we have no idea what they did there ( although I have a theory ;) ).

However, the people of old did NOT have farming tractors that could farm like we do today. One tractor or harvesting machine today can work huge amounts of land, where before it required many more people. They did NOT have transportation like we do today. You either used an animal, boat or walked. I also would say that the ancients did not have VLCC's (or more appropriately) ULCV's either.

There are numerous examples of modern devices that have resulted in an inactive society.

In time, the people could be impacted by the lack of hands-on physically demanding activities, i.e., like getting aching backs.

Scary thought. Everyone thinks humans will be upright. What if we are hunched over again.

I'm not exactly calling you "arrogant", and I'm sorry if I offended you. I was just trying to make the point that one should not be overconfident in what he thinks actually happened in the ancient past. One should also be open-minded.
We may agree to disagree, but I believe that a majority of what is taught about ancient history in schools is simply inaccurate. I'm a big fan of Ancient Aliens, and I believe that our ancestors of ancient times were not stupid, and that they had advanced machinery; otherwise they wouldn't have built the Great Pyramids! I also believe it's very possible that they did have farm tractors of some sort. I believe the stories of "gods" were not works of fiction, but historical fact; that the "gods" were actually ETs, and they taught ancient man in a various sciences and other disciplines, including farming, in which I strongly assume the ETs did not use simple tools and many more people than is necessary today. And I even believe that they did have transportation as advanced, if not, more advanced than we have today (i.e. things like vimanas and other flying machines as can be seen in Ancient Aliens among other sources). Modern education is largely agenda-based, and not based on teaching 100% of the absolute truth on recorded history.

I'm terribly sorry to have gotten carried away and rambled on about this, but I have a passion for ancient history, and I think that Ancient Aliens is an amazing show. I know a lot of it sounds like science fiction based on a modern perspective, but the world history as taught in American public schools appears to me like a fairy tale, especially the further back you go.

If you still don't agree, let's agree to disagree, shall we?

I'm not offended. Although I may have rolled my eyes when I read your comment that included the word, arrogant. ( ..and kicked the dog )

Anyway, If we all agreed on everything -- exactly -- , any discussion would become boring darn quick. You don't really know me yet, and haven't read my posts here through-out the years (been here since 2004). I have proposed similar theories as you have done in your posts ^^^above ^^^.

Maybe not exactly the same, but, enough that what you're presenting makes for an interesting read and is enjoyable to discuss.

Another factor that you aren't aware of is that I worked as an assistant for an archaeologist for several years. Our focus was on a civilization that lived in the Mojave Desert some 15,000 years ago. We don't know a lot about the people of that time and place, other than what we've found within their rock inscriptions and tools they left behind. I am aware that even with what we DO know, there is a whole lot more we DON'T know. I disagreed with the 'boss' of the research, figuring that even though the people of that time and place may have been considered primitive, they knew more than was assumed.

I do believe that thousands of years ago there were very advanced civilizations on this planet. The Earth is approx. 9 billion years old. I would think that is highly probable that there were advanced people way, way, etc., back. I also believe that their equipment was more natural , and that is why we aren't finding remnants of that machinery.

I also believe that there was a catastrophe (possibly more than one) that caused them to essentially , be "almost" entirely erased. There are hints here and there of their existence. As an example, there was a tribe that lived along what is now the Texas Coastline. They were unusual people. They were very tall , their warriors were over 6 feet tall. They were feared by those that knew of them. I find it strange that the Karankawa were so different and from what I've read of them I believe they were refugees of another civilization that had ended up along the coastline after a major catastrophic event .

Then we have accounts from within what's known as the Zone of Silence in Mexico ( Exploring Mexico’s Zone of Silence, Where Radio Signals Fail & Meteorites Crash ) where people have encountered unusual, tall beings. I have heard of similar encounters occuring in other places around the planet.

I believe that there may have actually been a Thor , Odin , Shiva , Vishnu and other 'advanced' individuals that would have been perceived to be gods.

Now, as far as them having a tractor or harvester where one man can work 200 acres a day, I don't think so.

That they had ships crossing the oceans carrying 25,000 tons of cargo, I don't think so.

That they worked and lived in high rise buildings, I don't think so.

That they criss crossed the respective continents in vehicles on vast networks of highways, I don't think so.

And nothing has been found in archeology that even hints those kind of things existed.

Does NOT having those things mean the people of the past ( early to waaaayyy back ) were stupid or not advanced? Absolutely NOT.

I figure they just had a different way of getting things done.

@KerrTexas - I respect your opinion, and I'll leave it at that. To each his own...
Interesting response my friend.

To each his own...hmm.

You presented some interesting material in your posts in this thread. Being a discussion forum , was interested in discussing further what you offered up in your posts .

However, if you prefer not to engage in a discussion with me, that's fine.
