How Would Alternate Timelines Handle a Dying Sun?

Say there was a catastrophy to come, say it was our own sun, that through a process unrealized at the time, was going into early either unmanageable stage, or red giant status.

Say on a known radio talk show, there was the claim that in the future, people could at that point in the future,. only live below ground.

Then wouldn't all other timeline versions have a copy of the sun going atypical?
 
That is an interesting question, but i think it would depend on if the timelines are universal or localized to planets. If they are universal than I think that the condition of the sun could change depending on the course of the timeline that unfolds. If it is only planetary then I believe that the state of the sun would be the same in all possible timelines, unless it is caused by our actions.
