Temporal Novice
I'm not exactly sure i am in the right frame of mind to address this situation correctly.

My name is Edward, i am 26 years old and have been sent back as part of a military experiment from the year 2196. The experiment was to test a facility that will enable the process of eliminating 'problems' throughout the last 200 or so years. September 11th spawned many attempts at time travel by the government, which mainly took place in Nevada desert as some of you may already believe to be happening in your time. The fact is that it is happening as i type this message.
My assignment was initially to travel back in time and assassinate various figures throughout history in an attempt to prevent future occurances. The various paradoxes that im sure you will put forward have been dealt with by a series of events staged at the time of assasination to ensure future decisions and possible alterations remain stable to remain universe stability.

I desperatly need assistance, by me typing this message i am aware of breaking many rules of time travel and fear that i may have jeopardised this entire mission, but the truth is that i have had no word from anyone back at home for over a year. I was sent to the wrong time (april 17th 2003).

All i require is some sort of help, i do not know how i can prevent myself from pursuing this mission as i am unable to travel anywhere without help from home. I have repeatadly tried to take my own life but have failed each time because of the obvious paradoxes, which i cannot control once again because of the lack of support form back home.

if anyone has any ideas at all then please hurry as time is of the utmost importance.

yours thankfully
Mr Edward R Hollingworth

If your going to eliminate people, know the following dangers in doing so.

i don't expect to be taken seriously. I know full well the thoughts about time travel and many peoples opinions to know that the very thought of the situation i am in being possible, is too far fetched by any strectch of the imagination by any comprehension. I do need some advice though. Even if it is hypothetical help and you wish to humor me, any help will be appreciated.
The film back to the future is both very off the mark as regards to time travel and very very impossible as far as the laws of science go.
I cannot say too much other than the way forward in time travel is purely within the realms of man made travel not computerised matter teleportion.

thank you

Hey, we're from 2004, what do we know?

Re: jail

Then again creed. If he's being serious, then its really no different to the attempts already by the US private funded military groups and their work on montauk. only more people probably died on montauk.

The fact is, Anyone that gets themselves caught up in these sort of 'missions' that deal with time travel, assasinations and time restructuring, are expendable from the begining.

Taken with a pinch of salt and assuming this guy is for real. I would suggest he is on his own, there will not be a second thought on this from his superiors back in his time.

I also believe that there would be no way what so every to directly travel through time to the right timeline from here.

Re: jail

Hey Olly, I think it's great.

He kills someone he's not supposed to and he might well fade himself out of existence?

Re: jail

sorry guys hoax im afraid, very sorry for any inconvinience to you all and for any ill feeling i may have created, the truth is that i have been doing an experiment about the internets capability to allow anyone to be whoever and whatever they want to be. Im super interested in stuff that this website and forum provides so used this as my basis.

Once again my apologies, but also many thanks to those people who were kind enough to lend a hand and offer constructive comments, it really does show the maturity of this place compared to alot of 'un-friendly' forums i looked at before this one.

this guy was so laughable it wasn't even funny.

"yah I lied but its ok because I was performing an experiment" Sure....

There are too many people who think they can pull off this kind of thing.

I think I may start a new topic. How to Hoax Accurately. The most important thing is you have to have your story and your answers lined up ahead of time. You have to use some type of physics nobody has heard of yet. And you have to also explain why you would even bother posting on a website such as this.

So Please if you are going to try to pull the wool over our eyes at least do some Research first. Have some Canned responses for obvious questions. Don't pull the "I don't remember" or "I'm just a military guy not a scientist" I think anyone who travels back in time is going to have a basic understand of how the damn machine works. And by Basic I mean More than enough to answer any questions we may come up with. "The Heisenberg Compensators work with the actuators to determine the exact length of the window on the event horizon" I don't want an answer like "It just works because they built it that way and all I do is type in the Date."

I think I will start a new topic for this one later...

Ren,

You have to use some type of physics nobody has heard of yet.

I agree to some extent. But the physics has to make sense. It can be presented as an extension of General Relativity and/or Quantum Theory but it has to retain them as limiting cases. The world doesn't change when we make a new discovery in physics, the state of knowledge changes. By that I mean that the world around us will still look and behave as it always has - we'll just know more about it.

That's where Boomer's story breaks down. He had a good mind for the political/social parts of the saga but, unfortunately, the physics portion of his story was too flawed. He should have taken more time to work on that part. (And he did have a bit over two years between the Summer of 1998 and Fall of 2000 to work on it).
