Has anyone else heard of this "Urban Legend"? Discussion

I came across this on facebook and wondered if anybody else had come across this story, and if so, can shed any more light on it?"There is, or WAS a family in the Tampa Bay Area who had told a really wild story to the St. Pete Times newspaper about their son coming home as a grown man only DAYS AFTER he had drowned in their pool as a youth! He had expressed his interest in the political situation in the US and apparently packed his family up and they left Tampa, just disappeared overnight. The left so fast that the newspaper called to clarify the spelling of a man's name in their story...and the phone was disconnected, the home emptied and the whole neighborhood being left in shock."
Is there an approximate date when this happened? Never heard of it.[DOUBLEPOST=1410797313,1410796866][/DOUBLEPOST]

Titor was definitely a hoax and whoever was behind it tried to profit from the hoax. There is a company "The John Titor Foundation" based in Florida that has copyright to various aspects of the Titor story, such as his military insignia. It also published a very unsuccessful book.In a sense, yes, Titor was a con artist. He just wasn't very good at monetizing the myth.
With all due respect, please give your evidence that Titor was a hoax. There are 282 pages of evidence of his credibility in Conviction of a Time Traveler. The book also explains the purpose of the John Titor Foundation, and I kindly apologize, but you are wrong. They no longer hold the copyright to the 177th insignia.

Do a search for John Titor. It is not owned by Disaster Inc, whose owners are from New York and Saint Pete, Florida. Further investigation will reveal the owners' names, but I'm not a stalker. Anyway, I personally feel this is not evidence of a hoax. It could very well be someone trying to cash in on Titor's story, like that guy that patented his time travel device.

Now, back to the Florida story. 28 years here and this is the first time I've heard this! :)

Unfortunately, I don't know the date. I can't even remember which facebook page I saw the story. When I get the time, I will check out the validity of the St Pete times in Tamap area of florida and look around the net for any clues to this story.

I'm just curious. I did a little searching but couldn't find it. Oh well.

If the man in the story had allegedly died then he could hardly have been a time traveller. A returning spirit maybe, or even someone coming from a parallel universe or timeline in which he hadn't died (and there are some interesting cases on these lines on the net).

I am going to have to call bs on this one. I've been a netizen since it was just a random grouping of home servers with dial in BBS's and I've never heard this story. Sounds like the movie " Big", kind of. Now, could it happen? Back to the whole " is there one linear timeline are is it more like a spider web of possibilities?

This could be legit. Reason that it is a rumor is that it didn't come directly to us, but instead moved over by three or four connections. So no physical evidence.

It's similar to the McStay family travel incident. Shrodringer's cat jumped out of the box.
