The reasons for this are, that out of the Rutan Advanced Composites Aerospace Group, there is not a published reason behind how the space ship One renters the atmosphere, nor how its weight, will affect any proposed friction air or otherwise, reentry profiles.

I'm not sure, so no.

I have entered the Volvo trip into space contest.

Thank you for entering for a chance to win the trip of a lifetime.

We'll select the winner on or about February 25, 2005, and let you know if you've won. You can also visit www.boldlygo.com after March 24, 2005 for winner information.

the reasons for this are, because they have not published how they will re-enter the atmosphere, friction, etc, I figure maybe if I'm lucky I won't have to come back. Worst comes to worst, we'll end up a steaming pile of rubble slamming into the ocean at Mach 10. No biggie.

I'm sure, so yes. /ttiforum/images/graemlins/yum.gif

It's quite interesting, tourism around earth is dangerous enough, going into space is really dangerous. You'd probably have a good time though even if you did become 'a steaming pile of rubble slamming into the ocean at Mach 10.'

GoodScientist,

Thank you, I would like to think it would somehow strangely be worth it, to be in near zero g (micro gravity), seeing the stars for the First time without looking through 62 miles of haze and ozone. And besides, what better death could you ask for than one that would no doubt be publicized, documented, probably even broadcast live on national TV. Its not like it would hurt or anything, I don't think going from Mach 10 to a dead stop within .5 seconds would really feel like much at all. Considering my brain would have probably been sucked out my eye sockets shortly before the impact. A quick death is something we should all hope for.

RenUnconscious,
I was fallin about the place there, :D, that is true, we should all hope for a quick death, I certainly will if any apocalyptic [censored] ever hits the fan.

It is often said that everyone harbors their own, unique, deathwish... even if we do not consciously acknowledge it. One of the less significant reasons that I chose aerospace as my profession is due to my own deathwish. If I were given a choice of how I was to die, it would be while flying in an aerospace vehicle, be it an aircraft or spacecraft. My informal questioning of many of my peers and colleages in the aerospace industry confirms that a great many of us would not be unhappy if we died doing what we love (in flight). I would therefore offer my own personal conjecture that the astronauts who perished in the accidents of the Columbia and Challenger space shuttles may have fulfilled their own death wishes. Not that they particularly WANTED to die at that time, but if they were going to die, the manner in which they met their ends most likely would have met with their approval.

For these reasons I think Creedo is disingenuous with his seeming interest (and alleged "expertise") in aerospace vehicles. I think he's just a scaredy cat!
If I were given the choice of who to trust to put me into space and bring me back, I would have a higher degree of trust for Burt Rutan than I would NASA!

First paragraph RMT spoke.I think anyone who gets into any kind of space, or aircraft, not knowing exactly how that vehicles will react under in-flight circumstances, or all of its capabilities, when they could have had this information to begin with, is either a complete fool, or a moron.

2.The second paragraph grouping of sentences.

If Rainmantime is related to the House Of Skywalker, which I suspect, then he has a good amount of Syth, (Sith), in him.

Siths were assassins and would work to be behind the political power structures, or money influence etc.

If this is the case Ray, if that is your real name?, "I really feel sorry for you"!

If Rainmantime is related to the House Of Skywalker
No, actually I am of House Atreides. My brother is Muad'Dib. The sleeper has awakened!!! He IS the Kwisatz Haderach!

You'd better run for your life, Creedo. My brother has harnessed the power of the Worms, and he protects me from the likes of people like you!

Rainman,

I agree with you 100%. Those astronauts aboard Columbia where 100% aware they were taking a chance with their life and for the Thrill they knew they would get, the utter indescribable joy of actually going into orbit around earth, they gave their lives and I know many people including myself who would do the same. Fortunately, unlike Challenger, they at least got into space first before the catastrophe.
